How do I get the HUD to appear? I started the game from the GBC client and beyond that, I don't know what else to do. I searched all over the website and through the help document and I can't find anything that is telling me how to activate the HUD. Please help as I really do not want to play through this game without the automap.

Did you follow the instructions?
- Select the game from the list on the left.
- Set the game folder if not already set (for GOG-versions click SETUP GOG).
Note: for the GOG-version of Pool of Radiance, select the POOLRAD folder.
Note: for Unlimited Adventures, select a design subfolder.
- Start DOSBox and the game or click START GAME (GOG-versions only).
- Load a saved game.
- Begin the game.
- Click the saved game slot button (A - J).
- Click SEARCH.

If the characters are found, the HUD should open.
All of the characters are found but when I click SEARCH, I get this:

- Trying to solve base address by searching for 1st ID starting at $1000000...
- ERROR: Could not solve base address. 1st ID not found!
Try increasing the latter address range value and click search again.
Incompatible DOSBox / game version might cause this.
Click the READ TEST to see which memory locations can be read, if any.
Click HELP for more info.

Sorry if this all seems simple but I really have no understanding of DOSBox.

What Windows version? What game? Is that a GOG version?

Try to increase the latter address value (just put a zero after the value) and search again.

Try the READ TEST to see if GBC can read any memory locations.
Just tried it again without changing anything and it works for some reason. Thanks for the help. Excited to play this.

I am having the same problem. I think I'm doing everything that the Gold Box Companion tutorial is telling me to do and I am successfully opening Pool of Radiance through the GBC, but there is not character hub appearing at all. I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Does the GBC window disappear after you click the Search-button?
If not, there should be some sort of error displayed in the text log of that window.
