Hi, I am starting the FRUA The realm series. Very interesting and have started with the recommended sequences start with the B8 Journey to the Rock (Game 6) module. I can seem to find any merchant to sell the loot. It seems like the closest shop is in the B6 The Veil Society (Game 5) module. I know you can transfer characters by copying the .CCH files between the SAVE folders. However, my specific question is about resuming a saved game. Here's what I have done:

1. In Game 6, I saved game before changing module, also *removed* all characters to ensure the .CCH file is updated.
2. In UA, I Apply Game 5. Copy the Game 6 characters Save folder to the Game 5 Save Folder.
3. In UA Start Game 5, add each character, one by one. Go to a shop, sell all the loot.
4. Saved game, removed characters in Game 5, so make sure all the stats, loot and selling/gold are updated in the .CCH files.
5. Copy all the character files (.CCH) from Game 5 back to Game 6 Save folder.
6. In UA, I Apply Game 6 (back to the original module I was playing) and load the save game before my loot-selling expedition.
7. However, when I loaded up, the characters are still having the old loot before I sold them.

Since there does not seem to have any shop in Game 6. Is there any way I can sell the items without using GBC?

Or is GBC my only option?

Thanks
Are you using UAShell to transfer characters, or doing it manually?
The correct way is to use the Characters -> Xfer option with UAShell.
Thanks for the reply. Yes I initially did it manually as per the post in RPGCodex but later tried the Xfer function in UAShell. The UA Shell function appears to transfer the characters if you are setting foot to a new modules but will not let you to continue your updated characters in the save game of another modules (which is what I want where I sell stuff in Game 05 and continue may save game in Game 06).

Is there any where? By the way, do you know in Game 06 Journey to the Rock has any shops I can sell my loot?

Thanks

I seem to recall there was a shopping option when you completed the first module (or the 2-3 first ones) of the campaign. The first module(s) lack regular in game shops.

To do what you described in the first post, I think what you need to do is to find a training hall, and save and remove and add characters from there. I suspect the character stats are in the save game file, so what you need to do is remove all characters but one, then save the game. Then do the steps you mentioned, and then add the updated characters. Since they are not part of the save game file, this should work.

If there's no training hall in the module, it's very easy to add one with the editor. Been a while since I played FRUA, but I'm pretty sure I've used this trick.
Wow, thank you for the quick response and really appreciate this! I am hoping to play a longer stretch during the holidays and not having been able to sell the loot in the first module bothers me. This really helps and will try it and report back! Thanks!
I got another post from ua.reonis.com forum which helped me and I will quote the help from another poster "null null" in the below:

"What you would have to do to preserve your position in the game but use the post-sale characters (minus items, plus money) is: load your game, remove the pre-sale characters from party from the startup screen, and replace them with a dummy character but DO NOT start adventuring, save again, exit, copy your post-sale character files into the save directory, load the save, and then add the post-sale characters into the party.

Above all make sure the post-sale characters are not in the directory BEFORE removing the pre-sale characters, or the pre-sale characters will overwrite the post-sale characters! (Technically it should give you the option to rename and create a second character copy, but they will have the same name and it is easy to get confused.)

Backup your entire directory before doing this, of course."

This works for me and thanks for your help too!
Glad it worked out. Null Null's solution is simper and more elegant then mine.
