Playing the sample adventure "Heirs to Skull Crag", I encountered the same kind of bug I experienced when playing The Dark Queen of Krynn: corruption of the party's last (6th) character's data when an NPC leaves the party. This time it happened when Yemandra's companion, Tornilee left the party. The last inventory item of the 6th character became 99 pieces of something unreadable (GBC and save game showed that the corresponding data was filled mostly with 0xFF), also the state of the character (active enchantments) became corrupted, so that she could not cast any spells. Luckily, both things could be corrected with Gold Box Companion.

This does not happen consistently: when the NPCs of the other two quests (kallithrea's and Dazmilar's) left, seemingly nothing bad happened.

Anyway, since this is the second of the later Gold Box games in which I encountered this bug, and as far as I see, no one has reported it yet, I decided to warn of it.
I always use doxbox svn with save states because I know all these games are buggy. If you have trouble finding this version I can zip it and put in up on a fileshare.

Chances are the actual quantity of items is 255 (which the game could end up interpreting as -1 in some contexts), but is only being displayed as 99.

Then again, given the unreadable name, I wouldn't expect the item to be well behaved. It could crash the game, or it could cause further memory corruption.

(Let me guess: The data for the 7th character (the one who just left) is filled mostly with 0xFF, which the game treats as an empty slot. Is that correct?)
