I am just wondering if a certain possible trick that I thought of actuallly works in any of the games in these collections. (If you are familiar with a certain trick in Final Fantasy Tactics, you might find this to be familiar.)

First, the character's most recent level up must have rolled dice for HP gain. At high levels, there is no way this would work.

The idea is as follows:

1. Get the character level drained on purpose. This can be done by fighting level-draining undead, and in Pools of Darkness, you could try casting Energy Drain. (Remember, however, that you will need to level drain the character to single digit levels for this to work.) If you lose a lot of max HP, reload until you don't lose as many.

2. Level up the character back to her old level. Make sure you get a good HP roll this time; you need to get more HP than you lost.

If this trick works, it should allow you to get arbitrarily high HP totals, until the game imposes an arbitrary limit or your HP overflows the size of the integer the game uses to represent it.

My question is: does this trick actually work?
Who cares?
