When I run Eye of the Beholder 1 on OS X I cannot get past the copy protection. It asks for a word 3 times, where I enter anything and press return, then the game exits. I have tried on 3 different machines with the same result.
I am running the latest version, which is supposed to have fixed this.

GOG support has not been able to help, so I am just wondering whether anyone else has got past the copy protection successfully on OS X?

According to this post (http://www.gog.com/forum/forgotten_realms_collection/copy_protection/post12) they need to fix the copy protection for EOTB1, perhaps they haven't done the Mac version correction yet?

ETA: Just noticed you said that the latest version was already supposed to have fixed it, so in that case I am no help.

Interesting - I have launched this twice now and have not been asked for a word. I'm using Mac OS X 10.10.5. These are the settings I select when I launch the game:

- VGA
- Built in speaker
- Y (use mouse)

After that it runs through the start up sequence - can't seem to spacebar past it.
You don't get asked right away - you have to find the ladder to the next level, then it asks for a word from the manual. Gog have supposedly patched it to accept any input, but it does not work for me. I have been using VGA and Adlib/Sound Blaster and mouse.

You can esc past the intro sequence.
It appears that the gog-3 release does not remove the copy protection, but you can get around it by using the DOS executable from the Windows version. You do this by copying the EOG.EXE file from the Windows install of Eye of the Beholder into the appropriate place within the OS X EOB app bundle (i.e. ~/Eye of the Beholder I.app/Contents/Resources/game/Eye of the Beholder.app/Contents/Resources/Eye of the Beholder.boxer/C.harddisk/EOB.EXE).

Hopefully GOG will release a new patched version for OS X soon that will make this unnecessary.

Hmm. I've not played Eye of the Beholder and that was next on my list - good to know about this. Thanks for the workaround.
