I think we just need version 1.2 or earlier. Just hoping for an update. COTB was a pleasant surprise.
Unfortunately Pool of Radiance 1.2 disabled the introduction music too, and was the first version bundled in a game compilation. It looks like only Pool of Radiance 1.0 and maybe 1.1 offered the original introduction music, which would only be available in the first disk releases.

I provided COTB 1.2 with music to GOG, and I'm hoping to be able to provide an early version of Pool of Radiance with music, if all goes well too.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what other differences there are between versions? (In particular, were there any bugs fixed or introduced in later versions?)

Well then I owe you a debt of gratitude sir!
SSI rarely seem to released patches, so it is very difficult to tell was was changed (i.e. bug fixes) in the main executable file between each version. The data files were not changed as often between versions, and it is easier to track down the differences in the data files, since the formats are well known now.
