Hey folks,

just bought it on Steam and after clicking "Play" nothing happend. Game doesn't start, no Error-Message, nothing.
Tried all basic fixes - nothing helped.

So I bought it on GOG hoping that they have a more compatible version of the game. But the Problem stayed the same...

Here is what I tried:
- Enabled all compatibility modes
- Run as an admin
- disabled full screen optimization
- "sc config secdrv start= demand"-fix
- checked if DEP is using default setting
- closed internet browser before starting the game
- disabled AVG (anti virus)

My System:
Win7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i5-6600K 3,5GHz
AMD R9-Fury 4GB
16GB RAM

Thanks for ur Help, Cheers

Late last year they updated it to run on Win10, that might have broken it for you.
If you use Galaxy it has a rollback option and it shows a version of FO1 from 3 years ago.
Maybe that would work.
I have the almost the same probem when I install it with offline installer, I can't find "flatout.exe" anywhere in the folder just the "Launch FlatOut" shortcut that doesn't work.

Edit: You know its kinda funny I have version of the game on 2 cd dics from some magazine bought well over 10 years ago and I never had any problems with running it on win7 64x.

My problem got solved thanks to your post, my antivirus (of which I always forget about, little bugger is always muted :D) flags flatout.exe as malware (why?) and file gets eaten by it during instalation everytime.

I have just got the game (yesterday) and i run Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

At first i thought i might have this error also. After launching it just gave a blank black screen and seemed to be doing nothing.

So i went to make a cup of tea and when i got back it had launched. So i guess it took about 1-2 mins!

I noticed that when i go into the setup launcher and change something (like the resolution) and launch the game, that first launch always takes a long time, but after that it will load up as normal (like a few seconds). Hope this helps :)

I'm not even running it in compatibility mode, just the base GOG install.

EDIT: reading fail on my part. I was talking about Flatout 2 (not 1)! So my advice might not be as useful as i hoped!

Same problem here, with further observations:

1. open executable (Galaxy or straight from the folder)
2. flatout.exe shows in the task manager for a split second
3. vanishes without doing anything.

Win 7 SP 1, brand new install

If you use Galaxy it has a rollback option and it shows a version of FO1 from 3 years ago.

How do I do that? Can't seem to find the option.

Any insights would be hugely appreciated.

Edit: nvm, found it the rollback. No dice, though.
