I just don't see why people well like a game that has virtually no gameplay, the story that is not good and a waste of time, and no interesting characters at all. It is just an over glorified walking sim and I would like to see people telling me what merits this game has over several other better indie games out there on gog.com

Why bother man? Your strong presumptions make it obvious that the only person who can change your opinion on Firewatch is yourself, so this conversation was dead before it could even begin.

oh maybe people can't change my mind on fire watch, as they can't find many good merits in the game at all. Even the most glorified reviews on original release and on gog.com basically say " I like this game, but the game play is not that good, and I really like the story till the ending stinks it up". Well if the only merit the game really has is story and it is not executed well, then the game has no substance at all ( because it fails as a walking sim, as some walking sims have at least a consistently average to good story).
I really enjoyed the game. It really grabbed me and was a good escape so to speak.

But once you finish it, that's it. There is no re-playability, which is a shame :(
Despite the big bugs I encountered it was really fun and I like to play it again because there's much to explore.

I can get the idea of exploring a forest is fun, but when there isn't much to be find, then exploring an empty woods is pointless. If you mean explore through the dialogue options, there is not much to explore either, as even several people including PhilsComputerLab say there is not much replay ability. At least tell tale games since walking dead has replay ability, as you can go to a handful of different locations and the relationship with people can at least change dialogue choices.

I meant the world and dialogue options. Both is fun. The world isn't empty. There is flora and fauna and some hidden or strange animals and objects to discover. There are many spots where you can view the landscape which is just beautiful.
I've played it again and it ran bugfree and made really fun. Especially the dialogues, they can go in several directions. Sometimes serious, sometimes sad and sometimes funny. That is great.

Well guess it is a nature walking sim, which I guess if that is all you are looking for, then u got what u wanted. Guess u are lucky for not dealing with the bugs too. But from what I've seen and heard, I don't see how the different dialogue choices actually change the story. But I guess I have my expectations high from ex tell tale employees.
Hey, I dealt with the bugs. They're terrible if they happen. Seems a bit random but you can recognize soon if your current game is bugged by looking in the menu after the beginning of day 1. If the point "restart the current day" (don't know the exact phrase) is missing then you've to start over.

I'm not a big fan of walking sims in general but this is different.
Another game that goes in this direction of gameplay is "The vanishing of ethan carter". That's a very good game too, IMHO.

It's just a matter of taste if you like this kind of game or not.
Walking sims are not about spatial exploration, particularly since such games rarely use inventory items. There is usually a story spelled out for you in the form of spoken dialogues or found journals, but that's only a tip of the iceberg. More detailed explanations can be discovered only if you pay a closer attention to your surroundings, and then put different little pieces of information together to discover something that was not said explicitly. Once you find the hideout, which is completely optional, it gives you more information than the entire in-game dialogue over the radio.

I guess it is just a matter of personal preference. I did enjoy the story. I also enjoy the laid back nature of the gameplay. Some days I'm in the mood for Painkiller and othber days I'm in the mood for a walking sim.

All I can tell you is, as with many other things, that what you get out depends on what you put in.

Well, the gameplay is fitting perfect (read as: nothing is overused or so...) as well as the story and world are in flawless harmony. (never breaks the logic of the world and so on)
At some points the game still suffers from "video game logic"---but don´t worry, it´s not too bad! A bit higher texture and shadow resolution and the game would have brilliant optics as well. You see, no 10/10, but also not much below.
I enjoyed it; It was a nice touching story, and y'know what it's refreshing to have a nice story that doesn't involve you murdering loads of people.

For me this is sort of a modern Choose Your Own Adventure, but on a computer rather than in a book.

The environment was interesting to look at, with the odd little surprise for the rabid explorer, and I found the characters interesting. It drew me in and let me enjoy the story and dialogue in a way that, say, Tales from the Borderlands didn't. (The writing was superb in ToTB but the gameplay was utter garbage and ruined the whole game for me. Is there nothing you *£&£$^£ people won't defile with QTE's!??!!)
Well u can thank the wide success of the walking dead of season 1 for tell tale to put a shit ton of qte's in there games, with mixed success..........
