I'm also having the keyboard issue on Fedora. I was able to get it to work once just by restarting the game but my whole system hung when I pulled out the map. Has anyone found a fix for this yet?
I believe I've found a solution to the keyboard issue. The game must be added to Steam.

- Install Steam
- Launch Steam with `STEAM_RUNTIME_PREFER_HOST_LIBRARIES=0 steam`
- Go to Games > Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library...
- Scroll and select Firewatch, click "Add Selected Programs"
- Right click on the Firewatch shortcut and select Properties
- Change Target to /home/$USER/GOG\ Games/Firewatch/start.sh
- Change "Start In" to /home/$USER/GOG\ Games/Firewatch
- Set the icon if you want. It's in Firewatch/support

So far this has fixed the keyboard issue for me. I'm not sure if the libraries option is strictly necessary (it was referenced as a fix to an earlier unrelated bug on the Steam forums) but it's working for me. Be sure to put your username in place of $USER in the Target and Start In paths.

Edit: Never mind. This worked once. I tried restarting and the game still has the bug.

I decided to give another try to the game today (almost half a year later), thinking the updated libraries on Arch would have fixed the issue.

Unfortunately that was not the case: the game starts but I can still *not* use the keyboard (the Xbox controller works nice, though).

ANYWAY... I found out (by pure luck) what the issue was: I was using the "english-international" keyboard layout instead of the more common "english-US". As soon as I changed my keyboard layout to "en_US" *before* starting the game, everything started working as expected.

Hope this helps some other international users.
Just bought and installed this for the first time, on Manjaro. Works fine, seen no issues at all. Downloaded the main file, version 1.09. Ignored the patch files.
