i have a problem where I don't have sound both in the menu and in game.

And a weird thing: when i start the game i spawn behind the car in the alley and can't navigate to the playable area, i can only navigate out of bounds and fall trough the floor.

The only other person with this problem I've seen is:
https://www.gog.com/forum/fear_series/no_sound_in_menu_or_ingame_just_in_splash_screen

But I use my ssd internal harddrive so his solution doesn't apply to me. I'm completely at a loss. Please can someone help, I really want to play F.E.A.R. again.

Have you installed wmfadist? It should fix these related problems. It is included to fear combat 1.08 or you can download here dll-rehab.com/file/wmfadist.exe/23417.html

As workaround you can edit map Intro manually and change gamestartpoint position after car stop or add teleport trigger in the area behind the car. Or try quickport as explainded here www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9__w0Y04W4
That is strange that people ask questions and then never really check out answers (or just do not reply about current state of problem). And it is not only about this topic, forum.

Oh awesome, thanks for replying. I didn't seem to receive a gog notification that I got an answer. I'll try installing wmfadist. I'll confirm if it works later.

Nah didn't work. Doesn't do anything.
Well, you did not provided any information about your system, so i proposed generic solution that helped me and other people. There are other possible workarounds in readme.txt and here https://tweakguides.pcgamingwiki.com/FEAR_5.html as example.
