Vexing. >_<

Thank you for the information.

Hopefully GOG will address this eventually as I really don't want any part of SecuROM installed on my computer.
Any chance this will be resolved?

Seems unlikely - this topic (but not this specific thread) has been a hot button issue between users and GOG since the game was released here years ago and GOG doesn't seem to want to change their stance on it nor make any move to pull the SecuROM files out of the install.

Thank you very much for your replies guys, I added both the suggested links about "DRM" and "SecuROM" to the OP for clarification purposes. And sorry for having been a "rude dick" (no offense taken btw.), I probably should have chosen a more calm and less aggressive approach. On the other hand, given the pointless lies I got as replies from GOG support I could hardly hold back. I believe in honestly and I wouldn't even have a severe problem with GOG selling a game which contains executables having an active SecuROM (no, it's NOT "inert"!) layer IF the company we all put our trust into would have "disclosed" this quite important information from the very beginning of selling this game instead of hiding it from the public on purpose for years by now - and even let their support "blatantly lie" when being confronted with solid proof. Acting that way simply isn't a fair way of treating customers and just leaves, as mentioned in topic, a bad taste.
Let's fight GOG to the ends of the earth and not rest until they're dead.

Has this problem been rectified?

F.E.A.R is an amazing game and I would really like to play it again.

But not with SecuROM, even partially, installed.

If this has not yet been fixed, please GOG, see what you can do to remedy the situation.

Answer is still no. GOG is satisfied with it "as is".
Thanks to this thread, I'm not buying F.E.A.R. on GOG.
I've just installed FEAR Platinum and can't find any trace of SecuROM. (I searched the registry for the string "SecuROM"..)

What should I be looking for?

Taskbar: What should I be looking for?
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SecuROM, HKEY_USERS and AppData\Roaming\SecuROM were locations mentioned in this thread by IronArcturus years ago.

If you've not attempted to run the multiplayer executable then you may not have any of the relevant entries. If you're feeling particularly adventurous and have some time to spare over this holiday season, you might take a look at another (much longer) thread (also started by the same user mentioned above) here though there's some chaff to wade through in it.

I'm going to take a look at the thread with the chaff in it although, from what I can see, and since I have no intention nor desire to play multiplayer, I'm pretty sure that this matter has no significance for me.

At any rate, thank you for taking the time to reply!
wow what a shame.

I won't be adding this now. :/
FIX THIS GOG.
