Hi everyone!

I made a video guide that shows how to use a Sound Blaster together with ALchemy in order to restore 3D Audio and EAX sound effects on Windows Vista and later.

I used Far Cry and Chaos Theory as examples :)

I use my Audigy2 ZS on Windows Seven with the SB Audigy Series Support Pack 5.0. I have no complains. Without the support pack the sound card is useless.

Far Cry 2 doesn't use EAX (recording to Wikipedia). Since it was released on multiply platforms sure they programmed the sound with XACT, which is a high-level API. So the sound is rendered in the CPU, but DAC still by the sound chip. Today's CPUs are powerful enough. It also works with DirectSound with is a sound API for Windows XP.

But it's a good addition, I guess. Would like to hear the difference (if any). When I am finish I may test the game on my old XP partition.

If I find the long list with lot's of confugurations for different titles, I will post them here.

This is all nice and dandy, but there is debate over the real extent of EAX effects in the game.
And the Creative world is too much in shambles in 2021 to be able to definitively prove anything, either way.

Alas your only video with far cry on XP had voice-over :(
