FireDrakeZ: Hello, I just bought Fallout 2, Fallout NV and Fallout Tactics during the GOG summer sale. However I already have Fallout 3 GOTY edition on steam as well as the base game on Xbox and didn't want to pay for a 3rd copy on GOG.

I was able to start Fallout 3 GOTY edition on steam by signing up with GFWL. Are there any patches you recommend for the steam edition you think I would need to avoid crashes? Thank you.

Jack-Terrac: I personnally spent 2 years trying to make it work on steam, never succeeded. Reason why I bought it a 2nd time on GoG
If the Nexus unofficial patch, the 2 modified lines in the ini files (see my post above) and other fix you can find on the forums don't work, then it will probably never work on steam.
I wish you luck
I tried starting Fallout 3 GOTY recently but it initially wouldn't work n my Windows 10 PC, without first signing up with GFWL. Once I did that, I was able to start and begin the game. I am not sure if I will encounter other issues down the line, but at least I have been able to start and play the beginning of the game.

Perhaps you could also do this with your steam copy.

Anyways, if I do encounter issues with my steam copy down the line, I will just play the base version on my Xbox One X especially since it has been enhanced for that console. It just doesn't have the dlcs which never go on sale on Xbox.

pmc64: Did they just prepatch it with a xlive.dll to remove gfwl?
Basically the gog version works while you have too patch the steam version yourself
take in consideration that GOG games are all well-adapted to run with your specs AND OS.

FO3 steam version crashes, freezes and even the compatibility mode is bugged (W8/W8.1/W10)

The GOG version seems to have fixed that.
I have the steam version it works fine but have to put the parameters on the cfg file
Does this GOG version of Fallout 3 run at 2560x1440 screen resolution?
I'd love to revisit both 3 and FNV on my PC now however many years later.

I purchased FNV off steam in August, spent an entire weak tweaking settings, core restrictions, fps clamps, stutter mods/patches, etc. Never was able to get it to run without this camera stutter that made the game impossible to enjoy.

I was really curious if GOG threw any fixes in their files, but seeing as "bUseThreadedAI=1" and "iNumHWThreads=2" type tweaks didn't work for FNV, I doubt they'll work for F3 :(
