So I've just dled Fallout 1. I'd like to play the game at full regardless of what resolution it is. What do I need to do to make that happen? I realize that there patches that allow you to play in high resolution, but I'm worried that the game will not scale and I'll have to squint to see my character.

At the moment, I'm applying the 1.2 patch and the screen resolution patch. Any other suggestions?
Never mind, I've fixed it. Sorry for the wasted topic.

If you don't mind, post how you solved it so that anyone else who stumbles across this post may find the answer here and not have to wonder what's wrong with his or her PC.

Of course, it's the least I can do. I downloaded the 1.3 patch and the higher screen resolution patch from http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=category&cat_id=12.

When you've installed both patches (you might be able to simply install the resolution patch), you will notice that you can now change your screen resolution.

Unfortunately, when I switched Fallout to 1000x700 my avatar was far too small for my poor vision, so I decided to enjoy the game at 640x480. So I exited the game and changed both my desktop resolution and Fallout's resolution to 640x480 and everything is just peachy.

Keep in mind that all of this was done on a macbook running windows parallel.
