Am I the only one getting really annoyed at how all the threads on this forum seem to boil down to "How bad fallout 3 is compared to Fallout 1 and 2?" I mean some people like the game, some people don't..we get it. Okay fine. Move on, let's talk about the games the fallout games GOG has for sale and not hijack every thread about how "BETH SUCKS SO BAD."
I've read three different threads in the last 10 mins and each one of them had the same topic..despite what the thread writer might or might not have intended.
I know this is the internet and everyone has to voice their opinion (Including me it seems) but for the LOVE of pete please just stop it. Take it to another forum: I'm sure No Mutants allowed or duck and cover would love to discuss this subject, ad nauseam. Heck even the Bethsoft forums, but for sanity's sake just stop it here or keep it confined to one thread. If I hadn't been hearing the same arguments over and over again for 3 years it might be different, but I swear people are saying the same stuff about FO3 (both good and bad) that they did from the time the game was announced.
Maybe I'm the only one that feels this way, if I am ignore this. But I swear I'll be avoiding this forum for years to come (like that's a threat, heh. "OMG a guy we dn't know just said he won't be posting"! *Goes back and watches some more family guy*)

You're not the only one, because of that exact thing, I only come in this forum at all to see if anyone has tech problems I can help them with. Its the same reason I only visited the NMA forums once or twice, there's something unique about the combnation of the internet and fallout that takes the usual arsehole tendencies and magnifies them to an insane degree. Like a social version of FEV

heh a internet only version of FEV. Maybe we could mod fallout 1 or 2 to reflect a typical forum conversation involving your typical angry fallout nerd...or even fallout 3 since it has the GECK. hmm....
BTW have you ever visited the Duck and Cover forums? They are almost as bad as NMA.

I know a few nerds who don't wear glasses..remember booger from revenge of the nerds? Besides my irritation is just with people that can't seem to let well enough alone...like there is no life out side of posting about fallout on various news groups and forums across the net. I mean for scooby's sake and by velma's beard...they are good games but let us talk about modding the games, new quests, old quests, technical issues, something besides what I mentioned above. That's all I'm asking... Heck I'd even take Fallout Fanfic at this point.

Yeah and it's highly contagious. Even i got into a dispute about superiority of prevuios Fallouts.

I honestly don't care if you think it is a better game or not, what I care about is that all the threads end up sounding pompous and overbearing no matter what the subject.
Take, for example, the thread in which a gentleman was talking about how he was so immersed in Fallout he burned a couple of tea pots (Well a teapot and a pan, I believe.)
Of course that got taken over, just like every other thread. And can they leave well enough alone? Nope, have to have the last word no matter what anyone says. God forbid someone disagrees with the prevailing thought! THat just kicks everythread in to 10 more pages of useless drivel.

but this is really as internet form of FEV, I cannot help myself if I see someone hailing to F3 as best fallout game, or spitting brimstone on good old fallouts. And mainly, this is internet, it was created for flamewars, spam and porn.

Actually the internet was created so that military would have instant communication between the bases the controlr ;) The spam and porn and such didn't come until much later. Of course you jest (a little) But I think saying something like that is a cop out.
If someone has a different opinion then you in real life, you shouldn't start verbally berating them. Alot of what is said in these forums..especially with fallout people...would have the police called on them in "the real world." That or the firemen would come and hose the whole crowd down...
People need to learn to let go and stop using flame wars as a way to distract themselves when they are bored. Go play a game, watch hulu.com, something. if you have to be in a flame war, state your piece and leave. I've been in many flame wars (With fallout fans you sneeze and there is a flame war started) but it's tiring and we need to use these forums for something more constructive.

And it is hard to be constructive. Have you ever tried to write construtive critisism of F3 and not beeing flamed by F3 fanboys ? Tried ever to write something good about F2 in vicinity of F3 fan?

Heh your still not going to bait me in to a flame war ;) Both sides need to simmer down. We need to be more construtive, use the toold we have in creative ways. I can think of a couple of constructive things: FO3 is a great tool for modders and FO1 and 2 is great for creating scenarios with that old school RPG feel. There should be some kind of contest using both games to come up with original stories set in the Fallout universe.
As for moderation? Yeah it would be nice to have a mod or two here. But you know what will happen "OMG GOG.com used to be FREEEEEE and now they are freaking DICTATORZ...zomg!" etc etc. People will complain, like they always do, threaten to leave without ever actually doing so. And that, in turn will just be the fuel for a flame war on moderating forums, heh.
