Okay... I just gained my first Level in Fallout 1 & it is showing something in the left corner saying level. I assume that this means that I can add points to my stats or something, but everytime I click on the Level thing nothing happens. Is that not the way this game works, or am I just doing something wrong?

Go to your skills screen, press "c" I think. Then if you've got a perk to select, do so, otherwise it's just adding the spare points to selected skills.
