falloutw.exe has stopped working
I don't even get an error message, if I try to start it up. I hear about one second of sound then and the screen remains black then I get kicked out and see the no input for DVI. No error message or anything
Ok this is seriously frustrating. I haven't found a single solution on the web or anything that even acknowledges my problem. This is insane.

Hey buddy, try right click, properties, comparability run with windows 95. I did that and it works now, good luck cheers
I'm having the same problem and changing the compatability hasn't fixed it
Yeah it wasn't a fix for me either
I had the same problem. Game wouldn't start, just a black screen then the windows error.

Try this:
Go to your Fallout install directory and find fallout.cfg
edit it with the following:

[system]
free_space=0
[sound]
music_path1=E:\Fallout\data\sound\music\
[system]
critter_dat=E:\Fallout\critter.dat
critter_patches=E:\Fallout\data
master_dat=E:\Fallout\master.dat
master_patches=E:\Fallout\data

Change the E:\ to whatever directory you have the game installed to.

Then change the compatibility on the falloutw.exe to windows 95, save that, and you should be good to go.

As a side note. Once the game has started okay and you then close it, the fallout.cfg file will change with all the correct updated information that the game needs to run. :)

It's still not working
i got the solution bruhs :D

all u gotta do is download a pirated version of Fallout and just cancel every file except the launcher.
then create a win.rar file for the launcher to be conserved in (just in case the error/refusal to work appears again)

pirates FTW!

Just so you know, the last time this thread was posted in was over 5 years ago. I doubt that person is still on the forums, but good luck.

Necroing like this is usually pretty frowned upon around here, but if you'd like to start a new thread, maybe some current people can help.
