patrikc: Just encountered the same issue, some hours into the game (test purposes), on save no.38. So I decided to place the previous saves in a different folder (just in case) and keep just that particular one. Started the game, loaded save 38 and it worked. My guess? Might have something to do with the number of saves/filesize. Too many, perhaps?
Is there a threshold for how many saves can be used before this bug happens? I have around 50 save files.

Unfortunately I have no idea. In my case it triggered after approximately 13 hours, though I cannot pinpoint what caused it.
I do remember being inside the Basincreek Building and reaching the second floor. On this level there is a door which leads to a void (an oversight perhaps). This is exactly where I saved the game (save 37 at that point). Played several more minutes, saved near McCarran (38) and had to leave the game. Trying to load save 38 led to the bug.
I'm guessing it also might have to do with saving while inside the textures - opening that door inside Basincreek Building was never intended. I should also mention I had no mods installed.
There are numerous bugs in New Vegas, but this one is by far the worst I've noticed.
Any update on the infinite loading bug?
Has anyone been able to find a fix for this problem?
And it happened again...
This time around I loaded a previous save, then the most recent one. This is a known bug across all platforms apparently.

Tbh, I don't experience any problems on Steam version. Sometimes infinite loading happens (very rarely) but then I just restart a game. All you have to do is quicksave every once in a while (F5 button).
News??

The first time I played FO:NV (an XP install, if that matters), I never had a problem with the loading.

Now, I am playing FO:NV again and during the Honest Hearts campaign I start getting 3-5min load times for all my saves past the the point in Honest Hearts. Been trying all the "fixes" I read of and nothing has helped.

Due to this, and a couple of other issues, I think this will be the last Bethesda game I ever buy.

Update: Removing all Honest Hearts game files from the game directory fixes the problem, but you loose all items associated with the add-on. (I'm just going to use a cheat-code to give myself bottle caps and buy some .45acp equipment. The game cheats me, I cheat it.)

hi i have not read every post in this thread.
But to my knowledge fallout new vegas savegames get larger and larger because the game world never resets what was changed in the levels but saves it for every location.
It becomes an issue when you play the game with all the DLCs since the game world gets bigger.
Since it's a 32 bit application i think it can only process savegames up to a certain size.

I have not tried that yet but there are tools which will clean up your savegame reseitting part of the gameworld (but hopefully not the main quests..)
However i will try that when i run into these issues again.
