Okay, I love Fallout and need to know just one thing... Does anyone know ANYTHING about this upcoming game besides the release date?
This question / problem has been solved by Summitimage
Bethesda hired Obsidian to make it. that's pretty much all i know.
Well. Considering as already is pointed out, it is Obsidian and not Bethesda. We can probably expect a different kind of awesome. (Possibly more, but I guess we'll see.)
Will be very interesting to see what they come up with.

Here you got all the information about New Vegas you will ever need. They are very strict about updating it, so if anything new comes up you're most likely find it here.

I don't know i hve the slight hope that this one will make at least a bit of sense, considering that Obsidian usually makes great things... if they manage to finish it properlry.

yes but fallout is defined by a lot of things. isometric camera is one of the main. even if they make it awesome it will still give you that crappy fallout 3 feeling.

I don't think Fallout games are defined by the isometric camera. Even if the original Interplay decided to make a new Fallout they would have went 3rd Person 3D. Weren't they working on a Fallout 3 that was 3rd person but it got canned?
What i think defines a Fallout game is Humor, Mystery, Atmosphere and Character Interaction. I didn't really like Fallout 3 but i thought they did a pretty good job on all those fronts. If obsidian can tweak the combat to make it make sense as well as have a good story/writing i think we'll all be happy with the product.

sorry to say but first person fallout game? no... just no.
oh and no van buren wasnt supposed to be 3rd Person 3D. it was supposed to be isometric-ish. look it up on youtube, its a nice vid to see.
Look razvan252 be realistic. It's 21 century no one makes isometric turn-based games these days (exept Blizzard but they have balls). That's just the way it is. I still consider isometric games the best, but I will never say that camera view or combat mode is what makes cRPG game great. It's all about story, characters. There are lots of outstanding 3D cRPG games.
Obsidian did a great job with SW KotOR 2 (or they would if they had actually finished it) and I think they can pull this off. They can't make a worst game then Bethesda did. Fingers crossed.

no they cant. thats very true. an no the isometic-ish era has not died yet. so what you are saying BECAUSE its the 21 century every game has to be first person? bad logic.

That's basicly what I'm trying to say. It may be sad but IMO it's true.
And we can speculate all we want whether Obsidian will pul it off or not. It remains to be seen.

no more talky? :(
actually i think most if not all gamers appreciate the game for the story/graphics(even if pesonally i hate those gamers)/uniqueness and such.
not all games that are first person are good and not all games that are good are fist person. as ive said look up on gamespot there are lots of games still isometric-ish. most might be indie games, true but IMO most of the commercial games nowadays suck hard. crysis for example is a mindless shooter.

It works like this:
Western RPGs got HUGE, so everyone cast aside the classic RPG styles to jump on the Western RPG bandwagon. Turn based? Tactical controls? Bah! Those are worthless, people want fast paced, in their fact action in an imersive world!
And for a while, that was true... But now, Western RPGs are a dime a dozen.
Morrowind
Oblivion
Fallout 3
Mount and Blade
Two Worlds
Fable
Fable 2
NWN
NWN2
Silverfall
KOTOR2
... I know I'm forgetting some, but I don't know which :)
But they are still being produced, because RPG players will buy them, even if they're not their favorite style of game, and game companies are just like movie producers. They will make what they know will sell.
It takes a company with balls to break the mold (or go back to an old mold), and if they take off, well, then the other companies will follow suit.
