Over at IGN.com they talked with Jeff Gardiner, lead producer of Fallout 3 about the DLC, especially the first, slated for a release in January.

I don't know if i will play it that much. I mean, i wanted to restart after i finished it, with lots of mods and so, but somehow.. i just couldn't. So either the DLC adds enough to spice things up again, or i will probably miss it for a long time.
I could also just load a save right before i finished the game, and play it then.. but i don't know. Why should i? I didn't see places like Dunwich building, too, so i could have just loaded it right after i finished and went there, but i didn't. So i just can't see me playing the DLC anytime soon, although it looks promising.
Perhaps i will stumble upon Fallout 3 again in some years, and think "hey, i could play it again, there must be lots of patches, mods and additional content out there".
What do you think about it?
With the release of the GECK there will most likely be a large number of mods released between now and when the DLC is released. There should be enough good ones to keep FO3 interesting until then.
I'll probably buy it. It's only $10 and for 4-6 hours of gameplay I feel that's more than a fair trade. Besides, the change of environment intrigues me.
I'll definitely buy it. I loved the game and I'm craving for more ;) Also, I'm curious as to how well they do with the pre-apocalyptic scenario.
I despise all DLC, it cheaply replaces expansions and creates an excuse to package tiny amounts of gameplay (four to six hours is pathetic) with deceiving prices, sure $10 doesn't seem like a lot, but when you factor in that three pieces of DLC provide FAR less content than an expansion pack such as the numerous Dawn of War ones or Twilight of the Arnor for Galactic Civilizations II, and many others, it's a freaking rip off.
They can kiss my bundle-sticks, I already got Fallout 3 for free as a lame giveaway for having purchased three other collector's editions of different games (all of which weren't worth it, but today's CE packaging is another story).
There used to be expansions (and still are in fact, I mentioned them before) that provided as much as twenty more hours of gameplay, hell, the Civilization IV expansions provided hundreds of hours of gameplay each, and even JA 2: Unfinished Business had me busy for another good twenty hours.
What does this DLC give us? Wonky scenarios that are awkwardly implemented into the main game. Everyone remembers those garish and idiotic pop-up messages in Oblivion that alerted you to things you suddenly and mysteriously came into possession of with no ingame explanation the instant you bought the DLC and installed it.
I miss expansions, DLC is a bad, ugly trend.

i believe this is how morrowind was. I know how you feel, but I believe that there is nothing that can be done.

No, Morrowind had two full expansions that could be called full games in their own right. It did also have some official DLC, but unlike Oblivion's and Fallout 3's it was free.
The way I see it: Thanks to LIVE I won't have to worry about those horror stories about Bethesda's DLC installers. Thus I'll probably get at least some of Fallout 3's DLC depending on its quality.

spot on. i'm excited about the DLC partially because of how well LIVE works. and at least this DLC isn't horse armor.
Looks cool, should finish fallout 3. WOnder how they bring the lone wanderer back
I can't buy the DLC's because LIVE things is not supporting my country. So bad I want to buy them.

Actually, don't. You may be disappointed.
Too bad this "DLC" doesn't add a real ending to the game.

Can you make an account for another country and use that to get the DLC? I've read about several people in england making american xbox live accounts so they can get access to the american video marketplace that has actual video content rather than the sad collection of crap the rest of the world puts up with.
Not sure if that'll work for the games for windows live but it might be worth a bit of research

Fallout 3 HAS a real ending, the same as 1 & 2.
The ending of 1 was a slideshow saying "You beat the big boss, you destroyed his organisation, here's what happened to the towns & people. Bye!"
The ending of 2 was a slideshow saying "You beat the big boss, you destroyed his organisation, here's what happened to the towns & people. Bye! Oh and you can keep playing if you want, not much point but you can."
The ending of 3 was a slideshow saying "You beat the big boss, you destroyed his organisation, here's what happened to the towns & people. Bye!"
Where's the difference?
