Hi Guys,

i can't play my best game ever o Windows 8. Compatibility mode for Windows 7 does not work either. Can you help ?

Thanks a lot in advance!
Do you have it patched? theirs some unofficial ones that fix thees kinds of problems.
Yep, try installing these two patches.

And try the High res patch: https://mega.co.nz/#!tckCGYQT!Z9gfBMucJzwG0ty9HUX1jwO913-tYWp31ztBwVhRpxU
The game runs fine, but you need to launch it from the exe.

The direct acces use a launcher that is the one that not run in W8.1, but the game itself runs fine. Maybe GOG someday makes a new installer without this thing.

Just edit the direct access and change:
"installpath\GOG Games\Fallout 2\GOGLauncher.exe" GOGFALLOUT2
by
"installpath\GOG Games\Fallout 2\fallout2.exe"

The game runs fine for me on Windows 8.1 no unofficial patches installed, but I'd recommend the unofficial patches if only for a better game experience.

Skip the HD patch, this game is no better with "HD".
I run FO2 on Windows 8 without any problems. I use Restoration Project, and run the game from fallout.exe, as was mentioned above by DalekSec. If you don't have Restoration Project, I urge you to get it - amazing thing making FO2 even better.

I don't know what Atlantico means by HD. Maybe high resolution patch. Well, I use it too, so my FO2 runs in my monitor's native resolution. It gives you bigger field of view, but makes everything smaller.

What else would I mean? I even put it in quotes. But yeah, that's exactly what I meant and I stand by that Fallout 2 is a worse experience when everything is smaller and a big field of view is not that helpful.

The game works fine as it was designed.

The game was also designed with 14" or 15" monitors in mind. So yeah, with laptops it's no good going Full HD, but with 24+" screens everything is twice as big as intended and blocky as hell.

With 90's era games, I've usually found some middle ground to be the best compromise. 1280x800 or thereabouts.

Sure, YMMV and I would always suggest people play at the resolution they prefer, but blocky graphics aside, there's no downside to playing at the original resolution.

Just to mention it, I had a 21" monitor back in the 90s :P it wasn't all teeny-tiny 12" monitors (though they certainly were the most common)
Might be a little late to this topic, but I do want to say as stated by DalekSec, running it from the exe and not the desktop icon works just fine if you don't want to bother with patches or anything.
