I had installed Fallout 2 and this is the first time I am running it with Windows 10(mine is the Home edition)

I tried to run it by clicking fallout2launcher and play and it gives the error - fallout2HR.exe has stopped working.

Same thing happens if I run fallout2HR.exe directly and I've tried run as administrator and also tried the compatibilty settings.

Also, at ddraw.ini I have also changed to mode = 4 as below, which still does not fix the issue.

[Graphics]
;Set to 0 for 8 bit fullscreen
;Set to 4 for dx9 fullscreen
;Set to 5 for dx9 windowed
;A dx9 mode is required for any graphics related script extender functions to work (i.e. fullscreen shaders)
;Modes 1, 2 and 3 are no longer supported
Mode=4
---

Anyone knows how I can get Fallout 2 running on my PC?

Fallout 2 does not have a 'fallout2HR.exe' executable. The file is 'fallout2.exe', so that suggests your game has been modified. Also, you have to install DirectX 9, which does not get installed by default on Windows 10.

Hickory: Fallout 2 does not have a 'fallout2HR.exe' executable.
It's an executable for Fallout 2 with High Resolution patch.

I figured. That's why I suggested it was modified.

It is the current default executable file after you install the game from the installer downloaded directly from GOG.

There is another Fallout2.exe and it gives the error - fallout2.exe has stopped working - as well.

Well that must be new then, since my GOG installation (from way back) has the original and works perfectly.
Use the High Resolution patch launcher to set up config and save.
Then try running again

Have you installed DirectX9.0C?

I hope you don't have the game installed in Program Files folders? (eg C:\Program Files\Fallout2)

Have you used Fallout 2 Unofficial Patch/Restoration Project?? It fixes some bugs and stuff.
