The mouse sensitivity in Fallout 2 is too high, and adjusting the sensitivity bar in options doesn't seem to have any effect for me. I have set it to the lowest setting and it is still moving way too fast.

I really want to enjoy this classic very much but as for now this mouse problem is putting me off. I have tried Fallout 2 years back but did not finish it, and I remember having no problem back then.

I wonder if anyone faced the same problem before, or know what I can do to fix this problem. Any help will be appreciated.

By the way, I am running on Win XP if that's an issue.
Sounds like you're using a much more sensitive mouse than last time, tried turning down its dpi or changing sensitivity in control panel?

Thanks for the reply. Adjusting the mouse sensitivity in control panel fix the issue in HOMM3 but in Fallout 2, the settings did not have any effect in game. Even when I set it to the lowest, the mouse in-game still move too fast for me.

I also tried to edit the fallout.cfg file which has a line > mouse_sensitivity=1.000000
I changed the value to a lower one, saved it, set the file to read only but to no avail. :(
I'm using a Logitech V120 mouse which has no problem at all in any games/application until this game.

I added an option to sfall for this, for exactly your reason; I found my mouse to be far too sensitive. If you have the restoration project or unofficial patch installed (and you should have. :p) then you already have sfall. If not, you can download it on its own. (Which wont require restarting your game, whereas installing the RP/patch would)

Open ddraw.ini in a text editor of your choice, (in the same folder as fallout2.exe) and look for a line that says 'MouseSensitivity=100' and change the 100 to something lower.

This is perfect ! Thanks mate ! Now I can finally play the game with no annoying hyper mouse speeds.
