I haven't played enough of FO1 to see it actually happen, but the 'Bloody Mess' perk is in it, with the same description as in FO2. Make of that what you will. :]
I finished GOG.com's version of Fallout with the Child Patch, which to my knowledge only adds the child sprites back into the game.
The bloody mess animations are in the game, so I guess its the US version, but with children removed?
yees the children! i got into a fight and they started throwing rocks at me. lucky for me i had something more... powerful.

hashishen: I am wondering about the 'splatter' element of the Fallout series in the first installment.
I mean, the ability to blow off someone's head or dismember them with a single critical shot - was it only introduced in Fallout 2 or the version of Fallout 1 available at GOG is censored in this matter?
I can't quite remember how it was when I played the game for the first time years ago.

Yup it's in there. Slicing mutants in half with the laser rifle and blowing the left side of a chest away with a shotgun or burst fire all works fine in my GoG copy unless I turn the violence filter on.
