The original UK versions of Fallout 1 & 2 were censored, children had been removed from the games.

Are the GOG.com releases uncensored like the original US versions?

Fallout 1: The UK version shipped with v1.2, AFAIK. An uncensored copy would have children in Shady Sands (the first town that you encounter after leaving the Vault).
Fallout 2: As I've barely played this game, I'm unsure where you would find some children.
Thanks in advance.

At least in Klamath, the first town after Arroyo.
The Den is one of the areas where you will be most likely to find children, if not then be suprised for ghost-children randomly stealing items from you (in the uncensored version, you can steal stuff back from them, but the UK version only removed their sprites, meaning they're still there, cept invisible). Even if it is the UK version, there is a fan-made patch that puts the sprites back in the game.
I'm pretty sure there was an official patch that replaced the children as well. Obviously can't get it on the Interplay site anymore, though. No Mutants Allowed should have it, though.
No, as far as I know, there was not a official patch for this. But the children patch on NMA is here.
/Edit: I tested Fallout 2 - it is the US Version, so no censored children.

Fallout 1 seems to be censored. No children in Shady Sands. There should be one in front of the doctor's house, and going right to the crops more normaly appear, but I couldn't see any.

There are no kids in my version of Fallout that I purchased on this site. The version I have on CD has kids. Seems censored.
high rated
to sum up everything said above -
fallout 1 is censored, install patch form here: NMA fallout children patch

Many thanks for the link kannabie
What a strange oversight. o_o
Ah well, a good community like this can fix those kinds of goofs. ^_^
Will the patch mess with my save file?

no
Awesome, will run the patch.
Would there still be any legal reprecussions for distributing a patched "with children" version via GOG?
If not, they should probably include the patch.

I am wondering about the 'splatter' element of the Fallout series in the first installment.
I mean, the ability to blow off someone's head or dismember them with a single critical shot - was it only introduced in Fallout 2 or the version of Fallout 1 available at GOG is censored in this matter?
I can't quite remember how it was when I played the game for the first time years ago.
