I have been playing for a good amount of hours now, and i can honesty say im hooked. Considering the game is 12 years old. Something like this that you can play years from when it was released is truely a classic. While can be frustrating at times the fun is still very much there. Also based on what iv'e seen from the new game everything translated over fairly well, granted except for the top down view but i'm sure it will still be fun.
