Fallout is one of the few games that can truly be called a classic. Modern games today fare poorly to what Fallout provides. The most noticeable aspect of this game is the amount of wit and humor that is added into it. Depending on the stats you set for your character, you can be anything from a downright idiot who is unable to talk coherently to a witty and clever adventurer. Both are entertaining, and it provides a great deal of replayability to the game as it constantly changes depending on your stats. Although it seems a little slow at the start, the game picks up quickly and becomes addicting with a well written story line, and characters you will not forget.
This game is a must for any RPG lover, or someone looking for an introduction to the genre.
ditto, the range of possibilities is almost limitless, especially for the game set in this 'post-nuclear' world

And that's what makes me so sad about Oblivion 2, aka; Fallout 3. It just seems to be a little TOO much like Oblivion, and missing a lot of the charm of Fallout; there's some pretty obvious omissions in combat, and without Black Isle working on it, I just don't know if the humour, the wit and the spark that made these games great will still be there...
But hey, that's the future. We're here to enjoy the past, amIright? Fallout's amazing, and I loves it.
In my opinion, the only cRPG, that is better than Fallout is Arcanum. This game is so gigantic...
Arcanum is an outstanding game :)
I love fallout, I remember I first played it when I was about 11 years old and having come from Diablo I was initially not impressed with the combat style. Once you give these games a chance you realize how amazing they are

But, Alas, has very boring combat which is sadly too prominent and important.
I specifically signed on for the Fallout series, I even own unopened copies of the first and second, along with Tactics. I can't wait to see what else GOG cooks up.

Fallout was also one of my primary interests in GoG's catalog line up. Although I have the first two games on disc, I am missing Tactics. Finally I now have the complete series, and am very excited about it. GoG could not have picked a better series of games to start with for their opening.
The absolute genius of G.O.G was recognising that Interplay would probably be amenable to a deal to raise capital and get their name back out there to help with their comeback! certainly all this talk about Interplay product has got to be good for Interplay, because if they release a new game we will all be all the more interested!

One of the most underrated RPG's of all time, as far as I'm concerned.
And Arcanum's even better w/ the Unofficial DrogBlackTooth Patches, with so many more bugs thrown out the window (since the game's last official patch).

Yes, I have to agree. A shame, that Troika closed its doors. :(
Drog's Patch is the best thing that could happen for Arcanum, in my opinion. I also translated his patch into german. :)
Fallout was the first RPG i ever played which definently has made my outlook on it very bright. When i first noticed GOG, it was Fallout 1, 2 and Giants: Citizen Kabuto that had me excited for this site. Tactics was okay imo, but it didn't feel as good as the first 2 games.

I would have to disagree. Ultima V is my favorite of all time. :)

I have to say, that I never played Ultima (only Ultima Online a bit), so I can not judge about this. :)
For me Fallout=Arcanum. It is hard to judge which one is better. Both are great.
