I’m trying Bazzite, a gaming-focused newbie-friendly Linux distro, as a Windows replacement.
A key thing to understand about Bazzite is that to maintain its reliable nature and rollback-friendly way of updating (using Universal Blue images), you should install software in the recommended ways (documented on their site).
So that means: Install Sunshine, if you will use it, via `ujust` (exact command can be picked via `ujust --choose`). Not `apt`!
Following Bazzite best practices, here is how to install Fallout: London.
Install Heroic via Bazaar (Bazzite's Flatpak tool).
Log in to Gog in Heroic.
Install Fallout: London One-Click Edition.
At this point you should actually be be able to run and play FOLON. It worked for me. I did not even have to reboot.
The above, I am fairly sure of, and believe this is the Right Way To Play FO:Lon on Bazzite.
My question is: Is there anything else I should be doing? Should I be tweaking Proton settings or something?
So far, my only real issue is: crashes. Usually when loading a save.
BTW, I’m on an Nvidia RTX 2080. It was super nice how Bazzite supported this out of the box, because on vanilla Fedora, trying to install drivers basically bricked the PC.
Trying to get Linux as stupid-easy to make "just work" is a great distro philosophy.
