This is a first for me for any GoG game i have played...

This thing simply does not want to start. I have installed the game (the 2.0 version) and the DLC. After the installation of the main game i got three or four prompts to repait or uninstall various versions of C++ redistributable.
Note to GoG: please implement a check if those are already installed, it's easy to accidentally uninstall them.
Anyway, i chose Repair on all of them.

Now the game won't start. It does not matter if i start as Administrator or not, i always get the same crash, an APPCRASH, refering to MSVCR80.dll
The debug.err file created by the game does not contain anything, except for a dxdiag dump.
Reinstalling, with DLC or not, does not help.

My System:
Windows 7 x64
i7 5820K, non OC
32GB RAM
GTX 970

I have encountered exactly the same problem with FE: LH. I uninstalled all MS VC++ 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015 redistributable packages, cleaned up the registry and installed them again. No effect. However, vanilla Fallen Enchantress works fine.

I've searched on stardock and steam forums. Some users reported about appcrash msvcr80.dll on launch but I haven't found any solution of this problem. I played the original Elemental: War of Magic - it has over 9000 bugs, memory leaks and CTD, but I liked it. I hoped that after all this years of development Stardock finally managed to fix their broken engine and so-called "AI" but as I can see - they didn't.
Good News, with the help of the support, i have got the game running.

If you ever had GoG Galaxy installed (maybe, as in my case, when you installed Witcher 3 from disk), and are not using it, or maybe have already uninstalled it, check for the presence of a still running GalaxyCommunication service.

To do that, (at least for Windows 7), open the Task Manager, and go to the Services tab. Sort by the name column and look for GalaxyCommunication. If it is listed as running cklick on the Services... button in the lower right corner.
In the resulting window look for GalaxyCommunication as well, double click it, and in the dropdown in the middle of the new window select Disabled. Click ok and reboot.

I am now waiting for response on how to cleanly uninstall this service. I will post or edit when i have more information.
I seem to be having the same problem, but do not have GalaxyCommunication running as a service. Any suggestions?

Nevermind. The answer turned out to be, "follow the instructions." Game is working now.
