A key part of this, for me at least, is that the "configuration" window doesn't recognize my video card (at all). It's an nVidia 1060 card, with the current drivers... and it seems that this program "outsmarted" itself by only recognizing certain "good" video cards (at that time). It may recognize SOME more recent stuff, but not everything...

Since the game doesn't know what video hardware to use, it can't decide what set of data to send to it. And apparently it doesn't even default-to-software (as many older games do). I STRONGLY suspect that this is the core of the issue with this program.
