I'm interested in how well people are doing. :)

I've played about 3 hours (Galaxy reports 2h 51m) and done 7 runs in that time.

My best run was my as of now last - I got to sector four, but man, it sure gets difficult. :( Was frantically searching for some repairs station, but I needed to hack communication array to proceed in one area, which was heavily guarded and... well, they blasted me into smitherins. :P

So what's your best run? :P
Sector 3, mostly by running away since I'm getting my ass handed to me left and right.

Got mulched during the tutorial, too. Shortest run was spawning next to 3 alien fighters, which blew through my shield, wrecked the life support and sent me home in a box about 1.5 seconds later.

Yeah, I get it, it's supposed to be hard, but you're so at the mercy of the RNG it's not even funny anymore. Needs some fine tuning for the starting sectors, really.

Why didn't you run when you spawned in such a situation? My first reaction would be to press R for this super speed boost and get my ass out of there asap. :D

agreed running is always a option and since sector one has at least 3 to 4 stops you should have time in the other zones to bulk up. So I enjoy that part of the RNG at least feels takes from FTL.
Plus made it to sector four and make at least 12k on one run

Well, I was literally in the earea with the jump gate to sector 5... but didn't make it. Some freaking black hole happened to be in proximity and it sucked me right in.

It was both hilarious and frustrating.
Sector 5 on my 4th attempt :(. But the 82 kills, 6 blueprints and $15.7k were a lot of fun trying to acquire. I'll say one thing - Okkar Corvettes hurrrrrrt.

Oh, these bastards! I steer away from them ;)
Fifth sector you say... impressive. I need to try again and get there. :D

Thanks, :). Yeah around sector 4/5 you'll start to see some more difficulty in terms of enemies and environments.
5Th sector here too :) 122 kills and around 19k credits. Love this game ^^
I got 3 zones in, then got blown away while investigating a pirate base embedded in an asteroid. It has some kind of energy dampening field and I could not figure out how to disable it. So basically I failed the tutorial, but I'm guessing that's about par for the first run ever.

Hopefully I will get more attempts in soon...
came to sector 5 and got wrecked by an outlaw chief with several drones^^

was my 4. run.

Really funny game though, and not that hard...

as a small tip from my side: don't even think about saving ressources, except credits.
During my first run i got wrecked first sector, first area with around 1000$ cause i tried to fight and didn't use rockets.
Second run i spammed my rockets like nothing else, cleaned the area. used scanning probe -> found a ton of container and tech -> got wrecked in sector 1 area 3 cause no rockets left XD 1300$
Third run, same tactic as before, except i used the scanning drone first, catched everything i could without getting to fight.
Fought only if necessary, got a decent primary weapon and a new better shield. Got incoming Interceptor signal, wrecked the 2 Okaar fighter without trouble, gathered more -> Got wrecked 10s later by a fucking huge ship with a ton of guns, that spawned next to me XD 1600$

Fourth run i adapted tactics again. Tried to catch what i could, fought enemies as less as possible till they were the last thing left in area, jumped out as soon as I see "incoming interceptors". Got 5k$ during sector 2 through trading, got another 1000$ for the challenge, killed more then 10 outlaws, got yet another 1000k. Upgraded stuff as possible as soon as possible -> found wanted criminal in sector 3, killed him using a big asteroid as shield and the beam-laser to counter his rockets, another 2k Credits
Sector 4 was kinda empty in terms of enemies but got decent loot, no real creditupgrade.
was killed at start of sector 5 -> 16k$
atm i played around 100 mins^^

I will see how this goes for the next runs.
Seems like there are more funny things to find out there and as my clone-pilot is saying... I sure hope this is getting me somewhere, thats worth the trouble XD

As the ship AI then says, "You are getting somewhere. It is worth the trouble." :P

About to start a non-commentary series and upload it to YouTube, will link later when an episode is uploaded :).
Got to sector 2 but I didn't make an objective out of jumping sectors. I've tried to gather money for upgrades.

Does it pay off to try and move to new sectors as fast as possible?

Not really, every sector is in terms of enemies slightly more harder then the one before.

Try to understand why you die and adapt.
The game has a lot of RNG, but also a few fixed rules, that i found so far.

One of these rules is, that after destroying the first interceptors, there will always be the big warship a few seconds behind them, after they got killed. So these guys are a clear statement, that it is time to leave. (Unless you are really strong)

Another rule is, that container will hold credits in the first sector, as long as you are below 2.000$. At least it seemed a rule for me, since the income was always drastically falling from containers, after reaching that point.

Third Rule: Use your thrusters. The AI is good, but still needs a few seconds to adapt to a new movement, so use your thrusters and become unpredictible

Just creamed an Okkar Corvette and its stupid shield drones. Got 100 credits, an Energized Boost and something else I didn't need. RNG Gods must hate me today :(.
