I've been playing Everspace for a few hours now and was just wondering, what are peoples' favourite weapons/devices?

Laser beam weapon most effective.. it has small autoaim so those weapons are my choice.

My favourite so far is the flak cannon - I like the power it has.

the weapons are being changed with patch updates. what used to be your favorite might not be now. i used to like the shock rifle ii. now not so much even though its range has been dramatically increased to 4km. it has to build up charge to fire effectively now. the flak cannon ii seems to be a little anemic now. it now sputters its fire at the target. the beam laser though fun to watch is a little short ranged for me. for now i guess i would pick the coil gun. it has medium range and good inflicted damage and it also feels like you are shooting something.

Found the coil gun in my last run and I have to say, it is my new favourite!

Got to say that the Gatling, especially improved versions of it, tends to be my favorite. Beam laser is also good and I like the Scatter Gun up close, especially against drones.

I always play with Beam Laser 1. It's not that powerful but can be crafted early on, instant fire, instant autoaim/hit. With a couple of mk3 upgrades later on it's not that bad even for more powerful enemies.

At the beginning of round - pulse laser + gatling afterwards, if the enemy's shield is down. But the best is flack cannon but original first and not the second one (II) !. Because the damaging area is smaller by the second cannon.

No, Ok, just done part of a run with flak cannon ( 1 +++ ) + beam laser* ( 2 +++ ) & it works so well!
Flak cannon take out groups of enemies, beam laser takes down single enemies/corvettes.

Since the upgrade I use the ancient weapon. Nothing can stand up to its raw power and range.

I really couldn't say. Although i've been much more successful with some weapons over others, i've hugely enjoyed using (or trying to use!) every one.
Only exception being the Thermo gun. That's the self-guided one right? Not much fun to be had with a weak weapon that does your work for you, and does it slower than you could yourself.
