Hey guys,

I know some people have already posted some issues with this, however has anyone been able to finish the GOG version of Entomorph?

I remember that originally when I played this game many moons ago I did have issues with it crashing often, however the GOG version appears to crash whenever a cut scene is played or often when changing zones (IE music changes).

I believe it is to do with the wrapper (Or whatever it was) that GOG have used to mimic the original CD music. I tested this by disabling the music, then changing zones and the music started to play again.

I am now at the stage where I am running back with the scarab in my chest (Right near the end) and whenever I try to leave the palace grounds I keep crashing... Disabling the music makes it last a bit longer then the music starts again and it crashes.

Anyone else been able to finish this game? any known workarounds?

Contact GOG support directly and leave a support ticket.

Otherwise they won't know to fix it.

You don't say? Kidding. Man, still no fix. Would've bought this one, had I not read the comments. Seriously, it's one of the best in the 90's.
Same problems, it crashes mostly when the storyteller start speaking... it is not so cool to remember to save every minute
I'd like to repeat the question that the OP posted, "Has anyone been able to finish the GOG version of Entomorph?"

I used to play this game, never did finish it due to frequent crashes. If GOG does not fix this, there is no point getting it again from here.
I recently bought the game and it was sometimes crashing when I left an area. I contact GOG Support. Their advice looked a bit like the standard stuff tech support people sometimes send to fob you off - run as administrator, update drivers etc. - but I did it anyway reinstalled the game and I haven't had any crashes since, so maybe it worked. But I haven't got very far into the game yet, so I can't be sure.

One problem I do have is that the music sometimes doesn't start again when it gets to the end of a track - it just stays silent until I leave the area. And there's the problem of the wrong tracks being played (I can remember the right ones from when I played the game on CD years ago), as discussed in the other thread. I'm still waiting to hear from Support about that.

Just in case this information helps anyone, I may as well mention that I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.
I have UAC disabled, and drivers and all updated... I will try to reinstall just for the sake of it

about the wrong track order the audio files are in the MUSIC folder in the installation directory, maybe we can just rename the files, if someone knows what the correct order is... I never played the original game

I had the same issues at the same stage of the game. Some random crashes that I had before could be solved by pressing "ESC" during cutscenes. At the end of the game, however, when trying to leave the palace grounds, the game immediately crashed without a possibility to prevent it from doing so.

Today I finally tried again to install the most recent drivers, especially for my ATI graphics card. After starting "Entomorph" again and loading the last saved game, it finally worked. I left the palace grounds, raced to the chest, where the scarab is to be placed - all without any crash. Then there is a cutscene where the storyteller comes in - I had to "ESC" this one, because the game crashed right at the end of it.

But after that I could finish the game without problems. The final cutscene worked out fine. I take it that updating the ATI driver (again) finally resolved the issue. I'm glad, I could finally finish the game - just keep trying to update all drivers, it may work out!

Btw.: What a great game... ;)
I also had some crashes in sequences but could solve this by running the game in Win 95 compatibility mode. Now I don't have any crashes at all. I'm not very far in this game right now so I can't say if this also solves the problems in the last stage.

EDIT:
Ok after some more playtime I still encountered some random crashes but less often.

I have had some random crashes and freezing, but I just finished the GOG version without skipping any cutscenes or anything. What helped was turning the music off if an area transition was causing a crash, but most of the time I was fine by just turning the music off and back on again in the game controls menu.
Even with the patch to fix the sound errors, it's still playing the wrong songs on certain systems. This is...well, I'm not gonna complain much, because I'm actually quite happy to have this game without a scratched up disc to worry about.
