I saw videos of the game being playied in coop but my friend says it's local coop.

I'd love to know whethere he's right or wrong since we want to play it online :)

Well if you want to count Parsec as a way of co-op because that's your only option for this game.

Well Parsec is a program that allows you to stream your PC to another PC and play from that. Basically if you wanted to play any local multiplayer game online that program makes it possible and you can limit how much control they would have on your PC. Technically yes and you can make it so they can only use a controller and sorry for replying really late.
