EECH on GOG comes with the latest CvH 1.11.1 executable, which is the latest exe based on the source code release.
It does not, however, include all the extra goodies (better textures, maps, etc) that this latest exe supports.
You can pick up the full mod install over at http://www.eechcentral.com/wiki/index.php?title=Installation_guide
The full mod install unfortunately includes a slightly older source code exe that may cause problems on your system. To get back to 1.11.1, download here : http://www.simhq.net/downloads/air_combat/eech/eechsetup1.11.1.zip
Thank you!
Thanks for clarifying the current EECH Mod x GoG status a bit scharmers. This will be very handy for new users, I'm sure.
Btw, I recognize your name from the Qt3 "air sim" thread, and that thread is full of awesome :).
I couldn't seem to find it on that wiki - what exactly does this mod provide?
Download links can be found at http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2697312/STICKY_SimHQ_direct_links_to_a.html
That's also the most active forum for EECH.
The mods provides amongs other things much improved textures, new sounds, new maps and new 3D cockpits.

Which still doesn't explain much. New maps - are those new world textures, terrain meshes, complete new maps? Do they include updated / new campaigns and skirmishes? What 3D cockpits are included, are both EEAH and EECH cockpits updated? Is general view distance increased, newer models? What do 'other things' encompass? New flightmodels, AI routines, campaign engine?
It a whopping 550MB+ download that apparently uses an older version of the executable than on GoG. I'd simply like a more detailed list of features than 'it improves textures'. ;)

pndrev: New maps - are those new world textures, terrain meshes, complete new maps?

Yes to all.
avatar
pndrev: Do they include updated / new campaigns and skirmishes?

Yes, for both the original terrains and the ones included in the mod.

pndrev: What 3D cockpits are included, are both EEAH and EECH cockpits updated?

Cockpits are included for the Comanche, Hokum, Apache Longbow and Havoc. The latter two are greatly enhanced from the original EECH; the former two have a few differences, mostly in the HUD.

Not sure.

pndrev: What do 'other things' encompass? New flightmodels, AI routines, campaign engine?

Flightmodels, AI routines and the campaign engine are tied to the game executable, and so are available even without the mods.

The reason it uses an older version is because it was created before 1.11.1, and the allmods installer hasn't been updated (yet) to include the 1.11.1 exe, since all you have to do is apply the Allmods.exe, and then re-update to 1.11.1. I'd say that's pretty easy to do.
Wow!
This mod catapults the game from '90s look right up into the 21st century!
If there was a bit more information on the download pages (basically the readme shown when installing), it should go right up on the official GoG.com EECH links!

It helps if you run the game prior to installing the Mod. once that is done, install the Mod and alter svereal of the setup.ini values to enable higher render settings. It looks like more like a 2004 sim now, and just as hard. Love it.

Great post Scharmers !
The latest All-Mods is now version 1.13.0, it's not the version1.12 that's in your SimHQ link. I just wanted to clear the confusion, as I made the mistake of first downloading the older version...

Installed 1.13.0, but do I now need to patch 1.11.1 or does the mod already do that? If I run 1.11.1 does it overwrite anything from 1.13.0? Me confused.
It took me quite a while to get this game to work properly with 1.13.0 and this is how it worked for me by looking on http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3014929/3.html.
1. Install setup_apache_vs_havoc.exe from GOG.com (this installer comes with version 1.1E. No need to patch).
2. Run apache_vs_havoc.exe once to unpack assets.
3. Install setup_comanche_hokum.exe from GOG.com (this installer comes with version 1.11.1. No need to patch).
* DO NOT RUN comanche_hokum.exe ONCE. DOING SO WILL CREATE "eech.ini" WITH INCORRECT INFORMATION, WHICH WILL NOT BE OVERWRITTEN BY THE FOLLOWING STEP AND THINGS WILL BE WRONG.
4. Install 1.13.0 All Mods
* If you screwed up step 3 above and ran EECH already, delete the eech.ini file in your EECH directory before proceeding.
5. Install OpenAL if you haven't ever installed it (doing so when you already have it installed hurts nothing).
6. Run EECH. For the first time.
7. Tweak the new EECH.INI to your heart's content.

Thanks, that all makes sense. Done. Now all I need to do is figure out how to fly a helicopter!
