Greetings,
I am learning to use this simulator and I have a question. When I try to hold the helicopter up in the air, I slow down and level it. Then I press the "H" button to hover it but if I let go of the controls, the helicopter begins to turn on it. Is it possible to make it stand still without turning on itself? It would be useful to be able to observe...
Sorry for my english

Hi Nicuss,

I've had this very same issue with other sims and it usually comes to joystick calibration for the rudder. Sometimes a calibration (inside the game) is enough, on other ocasions you'll have to fiddle with the deadzones to compensate for the drift.

Cheers,
there are 2 types of Hover control
Altitude Hold ( ALT H )
ALT J inrease Altitude
ALT K Decrease Altitude
Hover HOLD (H)
Stable Hover Hold (Shift + H for Joysticks with throttles )

Indeed this games are very sensitive or had to mantain the heli hovered and stable compared to Hind or gunship or even apache longbow. I alway ended trying the three types of hovering depending the situation. I believe that the basic problem is that the shift+H is the option to choose with joys and throttle. So turn on autopilot and then shift+H.

Greetings

Thanks for your time to answer me. Dominikabra and Gudadantza

When I detected this problem, I calibrated the joystick from windows and everything seems to be working correctly. However, in the game it keeps happening to me.
As for the options for hover control. I tried them all but it remains the same.
It is significant that this only happens to me when I have the helicopter at very little or no speed. When the helicopter is moving forward or backward I don't have to correct it.

p.d. jajaja, es gracioso que los 3 seamos españoles y estemos hablándonos en Ingles
Honestly I always guessed that this was a bug. The hover was even stable in sims like Longbow 2 etc but in EECH it was harder. At first believed it was a feature, It happened to me in the original dinamic Mltimedia Comanche Hokum CD which is the copy I own. Not sure about the older Apache havok.

If it is a feature or a bug it breaks a lot the gameplay. The gameplay in a comanche should be flight low and stealth and making use of the copilot screens and flir to stealth attacks etc. But the hover is so unstable that when you are in the copilot cockpit to adquire targets manually you could crash in the process. Half of the fun vanishes.

Yes. Three hover types but They didn't always work very well at least in the vanilla version.

greetings
