So, I managed to finally get this running correctly even on my old ass hardware. Since many people here struggles and I didn't found the solution here, I figured I should share.

All I did is installing the 1.16 mod THEN the 1.16.1 patch. Then it ran like dogshit pretty much.

But, heres how I solved it.

I wen't into compatibility settings and unchecked the Win95/95 compatibility. (Do that since 1.16 was upgraded to DX9 which completely defeats the purpose of that compatibility layer pretty much.) It ran a bit better. Also, check "disable Fullscreen optimisation" and keep it to run as admin.

Then I added dgvoodoo2 to the mix. (Just make sure to only put the d3d9.dll provided in the game's folder. Don't put them all in there so it dosent try to load in DX8.)

That's all I did. Now it works fine. Not perfect but it's playable and I can have fun with it.

Computer used:
HP Compact Pro 6300SSF
i5-3470 ~3.2ghz
8Gb RAM
Intel HD 2500 on-board graphics.

Oh yeah! I forgot.

If you're running that on crapware like me. Use RivaTuner to cap the FPS at 30.

Having a drop from 30 to 20 might suck but it's a hell of a lot less noticeable than a drop from 60 to 20.

Good game!
Okay. I bought a VERY, VERY cheap Radeon R5 430... some random OEM card normally distributed with Dell computers. It's complete shite by all account but it's for retrogaming so I don't care.

Just wanted to update this to say that the framerate had nothing to do with a problem with the game. Ever since I added that GPU, I've been playing 1080p full 60 fps.
Thanks, now I can play at 1920x1080!
