when i get on game ranger it wont let me join game because my cd key isalready being used by another player. same goes for when i host and someone tries to join. anyone know what to do?

Try this, it worked for me:
-If you get an error message concerning an invalid GameSpy Key it means that 2 players have the same key. You will have to change it.
For that, go to regedit, and navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SSSI\Empires (click on Empires folder)
-On the right side, find the file "GameSpy Key".
-Change ONE number to another one.
-Generate a new key using the Deviance Keygen I provided in the topic called « 4 language pack release »
-Launch empires and insert a new cd key
-No more problem

I installed Gameranger and it says I don't have the game. But yet I bought it on GOG. Did I do something wrong?

This sometimes happen, so you will have to tell gameranger where your empires application exe file is located, it is either Empires_DMW.exe or empires.exe

- Open gameranger
- On the top left corner, click on Edit and then Options...
- Find Empires: Dawn of the modern world in the list of games, click on it and click on browse...
- Select the Empires_DMW.exe or empires.exe file in your installation folder. (probably in : C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Empires Dawn of the Modern World\Empires_DMW.exe)

And you are able to host and join rooms for this game!
