I've noticed that many people here have problems with Empire Earth II (and Empire Earth II: The Art of Supremacy), especally on Windows 8/8.1.

Many game problems and Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10 compatibility has been fixed by Unofficial Patch 1.5:

Unofficial Patch 1.5 supports all possible screen resolutions (including 4k):

The patch has a nice Configuration Utility and Maximization Helper.

The Official Empire Earth II Multiplayer servers are down.

Hi , these patches work great for me (win 10)

Only issue I have is that the game wont launch from GOG galaxy (with the play button). I need to launch directly from executable.

Prior to patching they launched from galaxy.

Any ideas ?

Hi. I'm happy that you like the unofficial patch.
I tried to reproduce the problem, unfortunately I haven't got the GOG version of EE2, and I was unable to add my version to the library.
If you can, please edit file: UnofficialVersionConfig.txt from your EE2 folder, and change: StatisticsModName="Official" to StatisticsModName="Official_bigbilly50", and make sure that statistics are enabled (AllowStatistics=1). Then start EE2 using the Galaxy thing, and write here what time you tried to launch it. After that I will be able to find a log from you, and see if the game crashed or was launched with bad parameters :)

after making the suggested edit, your updated menu correctly appears when launching from the Galaxy tab.

Thanks very much for the for the tip (for which was only a minor annoyance). I can now remove EE2 from the 'hidden' games in Galaxy.

( And good effort considering you do not have the GOG version :) )

I've noticed that with this unnoficial patch, the plains map script generates really small territories, it's impossible to properly build on them, and it seems out of wack and proportion... Is it a bug?

Never mind, I think it was a fluke... I just started a game on plains without the patch, and the territories were just as small. :-P

@arvedui78, you might remember it correctly. Maps generation on EE2: AOS is worse than on the normal EE2. I tried to fix it, unfortunately with no success. So if you want to play on nice maps, I would recommend to play on the normal EE2, without the expansion pack. Especially continents maps are better there. By the way, UP1.5 has a "custom map size" option, where you can set map size up to 500x500. Orginally, the biggest, gigantic map was only 300x300.

EDIT 11.08.2016:
The newest version of Unofficial Patch 1.5 fixes map generation of Pangea maps on Empire Earth II The Art of Supremacy, so the maps should have much more territories now.

I have got to hand it to you, Doc, the thoughtfulness and thoroughness of this patch...puts developer patches to shame. This is the best thing (and vastly superior) that I've seen since the Neverwinter Nights or Temple of Elemental Evil community patches. I've been meaning to play this game for years, bought it on GoG sale, but it only ran I low resolution in a window in Win10. Now it's 1080P and feelin' free. And the Christmas trees? Nice touch.

I agree that screen resolutions are the most important part of the whole unofficial update.

By the way, In case someone missed it in the long changes list: there are new hotkeys:
- Free Camera Mode, hotkey: CTRL+F, then keep CTRL pressed to change the camera settings.
- Full Screen Mode, hotkey: CTRL+ALT+H (right mouse click to show the cursor), hides User Interface.

These hotkeys can give you much better experience in game.
