Firstly, thanks a bundle for the widescreen links & instructions! Worked like a charm & I'm loving my new view of an old favorite! Also kudos for the (surprisingly easy) instructions for disabling the opening movie, which was buggy as all get-out for me (which really isn't surprising considering the age of the game vs. the computers nowadays) because I was just about to post asking for help about that issue.

Anyway, the reason I am posting was that I saw someone mention the lack of *pixel level* (my term for it) information that is readily available for Emperor as opposed to Caesar, Pharaoh, & Zeus (which have been analyzed in such detail on so many fansites that it's almost comical to me) & I wanted to let you know about a fansite called "The Great Wall" that has some really nice printable break-down type charts for Housing Data, Figure Models, & Building Data (my personal favorite) in the "Model Data Tables" subsection there.

I haven't seen these particular charts anywhere else in the Emperor community, & just thought I would give them a "shout-out" in case anyone else is interested. (I found them useful & quite handy, anyway!)

That is a useful site, but as far as I'm aware, most (if not all) of that data can already be found over on Emperor Heaven's pages (a quick skim through of some articles seems to confirm this). If someone can go through the two sites and check/confirm this for me in more stringent detail, it would be much appreciated.

Hi guys, you may already know me as Gweilo from the Emperor Heaven website. This is a great thread with tons of useful information. I want to thank everyone for supporting this great game. My main reason for stopping by here is to invite you to join the "Emperor - Rise of the Middle Kingdom" group on Facebook. The group is still active and we typically post 1 or 2 articles each week, mostly gameplay tips for players of all skill levels.

I followed all the instructions but for some reason it wants a CD now when I try to play the game. I'm using the GoG verson of the game not the CD but the HD patch made it want a CD.

I've restored all of my Data and EXE to the original so I can at least play but I'd really like to know if there's an HD fix that doesn't think it needs a CD.

That's a strange bug, when I used the widescreen patch I never needed the CD at all (the original EXE did require one). There are no other widescreen patches, apart from the one linked in the opening post, I'm afraid! :(

I'm having exactly the same problem and am trying to find a solution for more than a year. I tried it with or without the widescreen mod files, but the cursor and buttons are always mismatched, misaligned, off-centered whatever one wants to call it. This does't work, since no DPI scaling option seems to fix it. Maybe it once worked on Windows 7 machines, but not on Windows 10.

Hello, I've tried the widescreen fix for 1300x768 but the game only runs windowed, which is really annoying, any solution to this? :(

I know this is a semi necro as I'm really replying to a post from a couple of years ago, but I just made the same stupid mistake and I can address why (probably) a couple of people have been having issues with requesting the CD.

Do not remove and replace the DATA folder, all those files are in there, if you are like me, you backed it up and it's an easy fix, otherwise you probably have to reinstall.

Simply copy the 15 files in the DATA folder from the zip and overwrite those in your install.

Sorry for the Necro, but its a fix that I'm sure people who randomly google around would be looking for...

Regarding those having mismatched or out of place buttons, menu items, etc. (Particularly those now on Windows 10).



To fix the cursor or menus being out of place or mismatched from the screen center, simply:

1. Find the Emperor.exe currently in the install folder
2. Open the properties of said .exe with a right click in the list... then go to the compatibility tab.
3. In the 'Settings' box, tick the "Disable fullscreen optimizations" option
4. (Opt) Click "Change high DPI settings", and tick both option boxes in the window, set drop down box one to "I open this program", and drop down box 2 to "Application"
5. (Opt) Return to the compatibility tab, tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and in the drop down select Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
6. Hit the Apply button in the bottom right.



This should fix a majority of problems regarding screen mismatch or out of place items (assuming you installed the original widescreen patch correctly to begin with.)
