Hey everyone,

Whenever I'm getting attacked by nomads and I select option to fight off barbarians game moves me to gameover screen instantly. I can only bribe the barbarians so they wont attack me.
I walled off my city and set up towers, is garrison necessary to take a fight?

Is this how it's supposed to be?

Yes, I believe you need a standing army (at least one Fort with troops) in order to fight. If you attempt to fight without an army (or your army is subsequently defeated), the enemy will conquer you. If you're not given the option to bribe, that means your city funds can't meet the enemy's demand.
