I went with Outlaws because i thought their mad max style was cool and they seemed to offer the most freedom of choice. I'm a level 25ish captain and i spent most of my time as a runner and then progressed from enforcer to captain fairly quickly.
My first playthrough I joined the Berserkers, because I was interested in magic.

I spent more time than I should have before I joined so I became a Warrior almost immediately after becoming a Cultivator. A while later I became a Paladin, then I spent the large rest of the game as a Paladin (and disappointed in the lack of armor past that).

Magic was indeed the way to go, the Blood Transfer-Healing combo lets you restore your health and mana endlessly (though they do have hefty cooldowns). I barely used melee once my Magic skill got powerful enough (though I'm sure I'd need to dabble in melee on Ultra difficulty).

---

Now I'm playing a Cleric, because I decided to focus on a Dex/Int character, with the Cleric weapons being the only ones that require those two.

I also changed my difficulty from Normal to Ultra. It was quite a steep change.

I HATED the Laser Rifle, I missed so much with it and on Ultra it just did NOT kill enemies quickly enough. Once I got my hands on the unique Plasma Rifle, the Redeemer, I realized I'd been wasting my time even bothering with a Laser Rifle. Plasma Rifles are ridiculously powerful- they can fire AoE shots at no additional cost which knock enemies all over the place (somewhat less effective on humans & similar-sized humanoids, oddly) and fire EMP shots which totally incapacitate Mutants & Machines for 10 full seconds!

---

I look forward to trying the Outlaws next, to see how well their ranged weapons and ammo-crafting measures up against the sheer power of the Plasma Rifle (seriously, I regret not having dabbled with the Plasma Rifle as a Berserker).
yea did same thing berserker first playthrough and was interested in magic but dmg was way to low, I also ended up with redeemer plasma rifle bec EMP shots are really OP, best way to go is cleric bec of better dmg skil for ranged weapons and you also get a boost in dmg if u travel alone, I was also thinking to join outlaws on my 3rd playtrough but I changed my mind bec the chems gives a 50% penalty on exp so fk them.

I thought one of the perks of the Outlaws was that it removes that XP penalty?

I went with Clerics on my first play, mostly because I couldn't stand the Berserker's scumbag leaders, and I just never came across the Outlaws until much later when I was exploring for the first time.

I was also under this impression.

Completely understandable, haha- though the suggestors tell me the Clerics aren't exactly better. :D

Yeah they're definitely not better. :) One of the great things about Elex, all the factions are scum in their own way.

But I'm always a sucker for PSI powers in any RPG.
I think chems have no penalty exp after you join the outlaws I did not test, but I noticed the text for penalty exp is not anymore on chems after you join the outlaws.
I did not choose a faction til now.
Somehow every faction sucks :(

Should I go to the treeloving neandertals, the the killing maniacs or to the fanatics?
There is no faction i would like to go to.

And so I am stil level 5 and did only play the game for maybe 3 or 4 hours.
And I do not think this will change :(
I wanted to play Berserker since I read the first preview. My favorite companion right now is Crony (you can finish his quest if you use your brain and climb the side of the mountain around the converter, avoid the patrols, and then just RUN).

Next level up I will (finally) have enough strength to use the Regent's Sword +1 that I found. Maybe I'll later exchange my bow for a plasma rifle.

I'm a Techno Viking. How cool is that? =)

drakrochma: Level 5 is nothing, just like 3 or 4 hours of gaming. Do not choose a faction yet. That way you waste a ton of XP, from all the qualifying quests from the other faction. I have played almost 25 hours and am level 13 and haven't taken a faction yet. I am only now getting to the clerics (I like exploring... and getting lost...) and after THEIR quests I will join the Berserkers. Good old Gothic strategy: Take all the XP (and accompanying stories) you can get before joining.

You need to invest in a hunting shirt and pants and maybe a hood, for basic protection. Avoid all creeps that creep you out, because they can and will kill you. Run around them or straight past them as fast as you can. Fighting everything just because it is there is stupid. In the beginning you are weak, you have to work your way up. Invest in the 'taking trophies' skill, it is your basic form of income (aside from quests). NEVER sell plants, only teeth and claws. And don't ever eat them, they are far too valuable for that.

Have a little fun. And save often. There is a lot you can do in the world of Elex, and reloading because you got killed is no shame but, for me, part of the fun. Like, I just yesterday upgraded my bow and then KILLED A SKEX. Dude would have bitten me in HALF if he had gotten to me. In one bite. =D

I think best combination is redeemer plasma rifle and double dmg chem from outlaws faction, but makes the game boring and I talk about ultra difficulty
None, and I'm still in chapter 1.
Level 20 and closing in on 90 hours of mostly just exploring the shit out of the game and avoiding the main quest line.

Seeing how the game becomes almost ridiculously easy after joining a faction I think I'll continue until there's nothing left to explore or quests to do (other than the faction-specific and story progressing ones). Actually the game becomes very manageable from the moment you get your hands on a weapon with a decent DOT (radiation, poison, bleeding) on it. Fighting a Moloch or Chimera with something like the Energy Regent Sword becomes a walk in the park, even on Ultra difficulty and without abusing a companion as a meat shield. Only thing you have to be reasonably good at is evading and conserving your stamina/jetpack charge.

I think that if you want to be challenged for as long as possible it's mandatory to prolong joining a faction for as long as possible.

It's a pretty crazy weapon.

But my main problem with Redeemer is that it was too easy to find. It should have been hidden, and in a hazard area with radiation or something.

Now I am Level 17 and joined the Berserkers, close to 30 hours of playtime. I completed the Cleric's quests and almost completed the Outlaws. Only thing I was missing was the quest with Rat, and I merely said 'I don't want to (objective)' and never talked to him again.

Now the roaming shall commence. =)
there is a bow in game that does the most dmg of all weapons in this game its a 3 star and damn everything dies 2 hits or 3 even 1 its so awesome :P
I'll choose Berzerkers, because I play nature lovers (woodelf ranger in all games). I don't care about their magic.
I didn't choose Clerics because they are too fond of technology.
I didn't choose Outlaws because they are too egotist.
