I play my PC games on a dedicated Window 7 x64 gaming system, primarily because I almost exclusivity play "good old games" (both GOG & CD/DVD ROM) that the more recent Window OS versions just don't have the comparable level of compatibility as compared to Win7.

Curiously enough, when the store page for the game was created it did list Windows 7 and 8 as compatible. But the moment the game was available for preorder a week or two ago, the requirements changed to Windows 10 and 11. Maybe it's one of those games that say Windows 10 on the tin but can work on 7 no problem? Won't know for sure until release.
According to PCGamingWiki, which I use very regularly to cross-check GOG's info, ELEX II uses DX12. However, ELEX II's store page lists DX11 as a minimum requirement. The former would effectively lock the game to W10, unless a workaround could be devised. The latter would seem to imply W7 wouldn't actively be supported, but it should work. Like soullos says, we won't know until the game releases.
Started fine, will do some testing.
After the cutscenes I get a crash, have some ideas and could be my system but until now I did not manage to get it to work.

Tried with -dx11 as other games worked fine with this.
Seems others have the problem on Steam as well in the forums.
Not sure if its the game or a win7 thing.

I've actually noticed the opposite with Win10 and even Win11 now. I've seen better backwards compatibility than with Win7x64 was with older games. If your PC (CPU) is fairly old then, yes, you might have trouble with 10 and especially 11, however. I have no games that ran under Win7 that won't run under Win10 /Win11. Pretty much these days, GOG ensures that if code changes are needed for compatibility with the newer OSes, the older games are brought up to speed. Win7 is no longer supported by Microsoft, so prudence is advised online.

Same here. After prologue and the first intro it crashes without a real infobox, only dmp files.
It will be interesting, if it is on Win 7, but i can't imaging it, becaus DX11 runs on Win 7...I hope there will be a fix soon.
I get a crash after the intro as well. Must have to do with Windows 7. Hopefully, PB will fix this issue soon.
The game uses DX 11.1 which is notorious for poor performance with certain gpu's, namely AMD.

God of War also uses DX 11.1 - on the steam forums people were pretty curious why PB coded it for DX11.1 and not DX11.3 or DX12 when the minimum OS requirement is Windows 10.

I wouldn't hold my breath that PB makes it work with Windows 7, because on the official page for the game from several sources, 10 is the lowest OS supported.

Don't kill the messenger, sorry I don't have good news. You might be able to finagle it to work on your Win 7 machines but it won't be officially supported in any capacity, to the best of my knowledge. Which is dumb, because it uses a branch of DX11.

EDIT: Here is the store page on GOG, where you can see Windows 10 is the required OS: https://www.gog.com/en/game/elex_ii

Now I tested it on Win 10 with the same hardware. So what should I say? It worked. So Win 10 may be needed.
