so these are just my opinions, but im not really having fun with this game.

im about 40 hours in and its still just an absolute slog. 40 hours in and i still have to run from even the lowest level creatures if theres more than one of them. there is no sense of advancment in character or plot. i really wanted to like this game...and i kinda did at first, even though the dificulty is bordering on sadistic. i figured...im sure as i level up it will get more interesing....but no...it doesnt get more interesting....nothing changes at all, and thats the main probllem with the game, nothing changes.

its all show and no go. the superficiality of just about every aspect kills this game for me. its a systemic problem...from enemies that dont drop the eqipment in thier hands...all the way to how the game works under the hood...where stats are meanigless beyond requirment unlockers. the game is SHALLOW...it has no substance. even the factions all basically play the same with just differet clothes and names for things.

speaking of shallow....companions are just awful. not only are they poorly written, but they dont even work as companions. the best most beleivable companion is crony....and thats only because hes a robot and doesnt need emotions or a real back story....hes still useless though. theyre all useless. we cant issue simple commands...we cant swap out gear...we cant even set general behavior....nothing...we cant do anything with them. why are they even there? filler most likely.

weapons and armor are a joke....i mean theres no point in going into it. theres like zero veriety there....nothing much to say about that, other than the loot system is also a joke. its pointless and boring.

as for accomplishing goals...theres really only one way to do things...and thats through combat, and the combat is the worst part of the game. its slow, unresponsive, and laugably unrealaistic. i just had a fight with a random reaver....i hit him square in the face with a grenade...AND he walked over and detonated a mine....and he still got right up and kicked my and my companions asses as we both smashed him our weapons. come on now.

elex has an interesting concept, and a great setting...but the actual game itself.....well its just not really very good. after it becomes obvious that advancement isnt rewarding...well then theres nothing for it to fall back on. the plot is thin, and while interesting, the setting isnt enjoyable because you cant explore it without getting trounced on by laughibly overpowered enemies.

will i still play it? yeah, but only because im a completionist.

who knows...maybe something will change and ill have to update my opinion...i sure hope so.

I would explore some of the games systems a bit more. You should be having an easier time with monsters after 40 hours. If you continue to struggle try experimenting with different weapons/upgrades/strategies. Their are some some really OP weapons that can be found if you explore. I found a gun called the Mortal Coil and it destroys everything I point it at (its almost too easy at this point as I can take on multiple mechs with very little difficulty and in record time to boot).
