0Grapher: -Important: As of typing this, you have to fix the Oblivion bsa files to ensure compatibility with some mods:

This is easily done and Thiev wants to solve this problem soon.
Yeah, she wants... but apparently something in the upload process messes with file timestamps and completely disregards original ones.
I might have to resort to some post-install script or something. Soon™ :|

thebes: So what all do the patches fix?
I don't understand your question. The Unofficial Patches? I think their aim is to fix all the bugs that the mod authors have found or heard of.

Thanks for the info. Too bad. Does that only affect the Galaxy version?

Offlines all have '2016' timestamps anyway so still need to be redone. I might want to wait a couple of days though till the initial traffic from the beginning of summer promo tones down.

It's not game-breaking, as almost each asset-replacing mod mentions archive invalidation, but it will be done nonetheless.

Waiting because of the Summer Sale sounds very reasonable and I hope that the Offlines won't pose any problems. Thanks for your work. I hope that the update will bring the Construction Set, too. :)

Construction Set has been added and a potential workaround for setting old timestamp during first offline install / Galaxy update. But it might mess up current load order if applied to a current build.

But if someone mods the game he should always use a proper sorter anyway...

The "timestamp setting" feature doesn't seem to always work. When it works it seems to only set the BSA file times. Note that having wrong times on ESM/ESP files result in different (IMO worse) problems that affect even an unmodded/vanilla copy. Please see my post about that, thanks!
A heads-up for anyone modding who is suddenly experiencing CTD (crash to desktop) when starting a new game: right after I installed Oblivion Reloaded I could load a previously saved test game no problem, but could no longer start a new game without it crashing when the intro video is supposed to play. It turns out it's a single setting in the OblivionReloaded.ini file causing the problem. Changing "Equipment Mode" from 1 to 0 fixed it, and my game is now working beautifully!

Or don't use latest Oblivion Reloaded, use their previous stable version (6.1.2 if I remember well). Works with equipment mode and New game.

PS: Makes you wonder what kind of "testing" was done on the latest version if it crashes when doing "New game" in default configuration...

A question about the Construction Set. At nexusmods, I've read that it's highly recommended to add the Construction Set Extender to it. Is this extender compatible, or already included, or perhaps not even necessary with the GOG version?

It's compatible, GOG made no changes to the Construction Set.
If you use an ENB, you have to temporarily remove d3d9.dll from the root directory or it won't load.

Note that there is a difference between CS Extender and OBSE+CS. You need at least OBSE+CS if using the CS to load/edit/create any ESPs that use OBSE. You need the former if you want the new features it brings (and it requires OBSE since it's an OBSE plugin). I used the GOG CS+OBSE no problems but I didn't want to use CS Extender because when I tried it, it failed saying I need to run it as admin which is bullshit (probably because too many CS Extender users have no idea what they are doing and are running into errors with file permissions which isn't an issue for the GOG version and is easy to fix either way without running as admin). I refuse to run untrusted software as admin.
Im having massive issues with Mods. I've tried the Nexus Mod Manager, it being quite easy to use in the past and worked well with Skyrim. I actually used it long ago with Oblivion and it also worked, back when mods were fewer.

But now, using the GoG version, I cannot make it work. After adding a few mods, Oblivion stops working, and even removing the mods, uninstalling, creates and unusable game, causing me to reinstall (for a 3rd time!) On my second try, I added things in manually, it took another dump in the game and caused it to crash constantly on start up (and when it DID go into the game, it would crash on exit.

Can anyone tell me exactly what they are using for a mod manager? Maybe I am doing something wrong, so any pointers on a step by step that might exist somewhere? I can't believe the changes that 5 years would make, along with a new computer, and newer updated programs that would make me feel like I never did this before!

Thanks!

This doesn't really belong here - what about opening a separate thread for this issue?

You're correct, but I already found another previous post which is excellent and is already on the way to help me..
