I've tried to play this game with either a cheap Gemini game pad as well as a Logitech Dual Action controller, but I can't get past the "Kill All Enemies" screen in the game setup.
I've tried editing the EWJ1.conf file as someone else suggested (setting the timing to false), but still no go.
If anyone is using a Dual Action controller for the game, I'd appreciate any help with getting mine to work.
Thanks!
EDIT: and UPDATE: Well...after repeated tries it just decided to start working properly. I don't know why since I didn't change anything at all.
The respnse time of the buttons isn't as quick as it should be but I'm getting used to it.
Sort of. :)

I had trouble with a game (can't remember what) and my logitech gamepad.
It turns out that I needed to start the game and then plug in the controller.

As I've mentioned in other topics, if all else fails, you could just use Joy2Key. Map the joystick buttons to the proper keys, set up the game so it uses keyboard controls, and voila: joystick/gamepad support for any game using a keyboard.

The Logitech I have was supplied with "Profiler" software which does the same thing, except I haven't had to use it so far.
The keypad has been working since my first post but the response time is sluggish (it's the same with the Gemini keypad) -- getting Peter Puppy across the gaps, bridges and tentacles is very difficult. It's something I can do very easily on the original Sega version.
So my new question would be -- does Joy2Key introduce any delay in response time?

None that I've noticed. I used it mostly with various vertical shooters, so it should work fine.
The XBOX 360 Controller, and the Saitek P series controllers do the same thing as well, im better off using the keyboard which bites in a way.
Try running Xpadder.
It worked for me with my 360 pad. Hopefully it will also support your pad too.
has anyone been able to use a PS3 controller? it has a USB connection wire going to the pad. been wondering if it's possible, since i have a PS3 myself.
