The good: I really enjoyed both of these games. They are full of absurd humor - our hero, the enemies, the environments. Ever fancied being chased down pizza boxes by a giant salt shaker? Dreamed about saving cows from aliens trying to abduct them ? You'll find it here, and much more.
Earthworm Jim is a platformer at it's base, but a lot of levels add additional twists: one time there's something chasing you (the aforementioned salt shaker); another you're chasing someone, or you get a dog to escort that flips out every time something bad happens to him. Overall, there is a lot of variety. The sequel does even more of this, to the point that many levels don't even have platforming - instead, you get one that is an isometric scrolling shooter (like Zaxxon, for those gray-bearded game fans).
The bad: Some moments can be bloody hard, and thus frustrating. So if you are new to platforming, be warned that you might want to smash your keyboard, or whatever you're playing with. Speaking of which, the PC controls are less than ideal.
