I played Earth 2140 and 2150 back when I was a little kid, and I remember both games were very fun. I bought all Earth games on GOG so I can enjoy them again.

2150 was great fun, I feel like a real commander playing the campaign. The missions have great diversity. The three factions are all very unique. It's one of my favorite strategy game even to this date.

2140, however, was extremely frustrating. Ok, not much story going on. Not any diversity in the missions. Ok, I can accept that. But the missions are way too hard. I almost feel like a troll designed all the levels. Why would someone think sending an attack force to the player's base every minute a good design? Suicide apc that try to capture and destroy your buildings every minute? As if that's not annoying enough, let's add some air raid? And send a bunch of heavy units after the player destroy one of the enemies base?
it's really annoying because even if you put lots of units and defensive buildings in your base, most of them will not actively engage the enemies until its too late. I've seen many times my units let an ED transport pass through (they fired some missiles, but failed to destroy it) and capture my buildings. It is also an headache to command the army. The pathfinding seems to be quite bad, half of my army will walk toward opposite direction when trying to go through a choke point. They sometimes move around without order or suddenly decide to chase down enemy units, resulting them being killed. When under attack, most of them will be idling unless they're hit, which means I have to look after them every second or they die without killing many enemies. And in most missions, I only have limited resources (hard to get too much money with only one mine) which make losses not very acceptable. The result is a very tiresome and frustrating game. And damn, I remember this is a good game...the only good thing is that as a UCS player I can build shadow to cloak my army and minimize losses.

Just some thoughts.

I've got to agree - Earth 2140 fell FAR FAR FAR below my expectations going off all the rose-tinted pathalogically optimistic reviews!

Earth 2140 is just another lousy KKND 2 job!

Earth 2150 isn't that hot neither! The over zealous reviews led me to expect a game that could even be worthy of "Total Annihilation", and in 3D - but no..... it's mediocre through and through, and has the same stupidly impossible campaign missions. Eg "Kamchatka" (ED campaign mission 5) - lead four unarmed and unarmoured utility vehicles through a gauntlet of two dozen powerful enemy units, with no escorts, no resources and no chance of repairs!

Yeah, right, doable my arse!

The music doesn't work at all on my system, just plays the first 0.25 seconds of each track in a loop over and over!
The manual is crap, explains very few of the games finer points, and full of spelling errors and false info (such as the unit database - what f***** unit database?) and piss poor translations to English.
And as for the infuriatingly teeth grating acknowledgments you get from your vehicles..... ARGH!

Hope Earth 2160 turns out better!

Ha ha ha! Yeah! Some hope of that! With it's 3 installs and your out, and it's useless without it's activiation keys problems!

It's been some time since i last played 2150, but I remember that ED is said to have the most difficult campaign, probably because they are designed as the "low-tech" faction. UCS and LC campaign are easier once you can build your high tech energy weapons (plasma gun for UCS and lightning gun for LC). In both faction's campaign you can just spam plasma fire or smite your foes with lightning and see them die like flies. While there are still some difficult missions, most of them are usually beatable at the second try.

I ran all 2150 games on a win7 64bit without technical issues. I remember the only thing I did was setting compatible options. If you still found problems Google should help you deal with it.

In this mission what you have to do is to escape the enemy, not engage them. Plus you need to read the objectives: only one vehicle is important, others can be sacrificed to delay pursuers. I played it last year, and this mission was very easy once you knew where the enemy will come from - just go opposite way, circle around and full speed to second base.
You must remember this is an old game and you should play it just as they were played back then: each mission twice, first time to learn what AI will do and second time to flawless victory. You have multiple saves, use them: save often and each by different name.

This game (E2150) is definitely not in same league as TA, but it's solid B-title. And no, I haven't played it back when I was a kid so it's not nostalgia speaking.
