So I selected Auto Combat for my Wizard and watched him fight a small group of orcs. First he let off a Fireball, heavily damaging them, and the ranged units picked off all of them except for 1 straggler who was down to his last sliver of health. So far so good.

But what does the Wizard do to put this poor guy out of his misery? Phoenix.
You haven't seen "summon devil", casted through sacrifice of Paladin with 3 hero's crosses against 5 goblins. Sniff. I miss you, sir Galahad.

LOL I guess that's what "No Sacrifices" option is for then?

But "No Magic" would be pretty bad for a Wizard, so they shouldn't be quick/auto-combated if mana crystal reserve is an issue.
You can do autocombat and have the hero withhold spells. I think it's with CTRL plus the F key. I didn't actually try this, just remember a tip from the loading screens saying this.
ctrl-F10.

Even after over 100 hours I still use the mouse for everything - only time I ever use shortcut keys is for hero selection and healing. So I know there are the two "No Sacrifices" and "No Magic" options. But like I said, "No Magic" would not be very good for a wizard, since magic is kinda his whole point. He'd have to rely on units and wand attacks, so it'd have to be up against a completely outclassed army. And if he doesn't have a wand equipped, the AI might just make him wade into battle...

BTW, is it just me, or does the AI not know how to switch weapons? Even an Adventurer (i think - Archer + Warrior, with instant weapon switching) winds up with "broken" weapons after quick combat.
