New Horizon Translation Project

If you want to help please write in this thread
http://eador.com/B2/viewtopic.php?t=2721&start=0
I will be more active in that thread and I've created this one only to draw attention to English speaking users.

The goal of this project is to make a brilliant mod New Horizon available to English speaking fans of Eador.

I probably won't have time to create a perfect translation of all desriptions, events and other things like this. But what would definitely do - I'll translate all names of new creatures/spells/items and Machine translate all other complicated texts. I will clean some of the texts but I would definitely need help with it.

Progress so far
visit the thread linked above.

Before starting translation please post on the forum board I've mentioned in the first post
Hey Drakon
Are you still working on the translation?

That mod looks unbelievable, with the New Horizons mod Genesis is probably one of the greatest strategy games ever. The new enemies looked amazing but since I cannot understand Russian I was unsure about what else the mod offers...

Anyways good-luck. I hope you keep working on it; you'll be contributing a great deal to this masterpiece.

Yes, you can check out the translation progress :)
Yesterday we've finished the most complicated part, new events and their dialogs.

We are also working on the mod itself, recently we've started expanding Dwarves and Halflings by scrapping some existing units and making new ones. Right now(I mean at the moment) I'm making new sounds for dwarven mechanical units ^__^
^That is great to hear. I really like what you did with the races, and your artwork fits the game so well (improves upon), looks amazing. Seriously I am more into this than Age of Wonders SM atm. I wish I knew something about what you're doing so I could help-out ...I'll buy you a pizza, a game or a pack of beer when you finish, if you have paypal or steam or something.

I am really looking forward to this. Looks like you got much work to do. Do you think you'll be finished towards the end of the year?

I hope we'll finish translating in two month .Right now the major thing is a units.txt which contains all units and their descriptions.

Right now we are translating version 13.04 there were some major changes since then.Including graphics, mechanics and events.

I joined the team after 13.03 and started making sprites only after 13.04 was released :) So a lot of graphic is not that good in this one.

Just for fun I started a topic called OLDvsNEW sprites. I tried to write some interesting staff and you also can gain some info about new units Here is a link.

Well I have a steam, in fact I made a mod for a very funny and entertaining game called Dungeons of Dredmor, here is the link if you wanna try it :)

Yep that was and well... is me. "Drakon - Ryu - Dragon" are the same thing in different languages. Russian, Japanese and English :)
I wish I had same spriting skills back then as I have now this mod would have been even better :)

Btw if you look in my sig on the link above you'll see another two mods I've made, most noticable Expanded Pocket Dimension

It's a bit of an offtop but I gues it's ok since it's my own thread :)

Yep, that's another one I use :) Really useful for sorting my items more effectively, and having the dimension look interesting. (Incidentally, the correct spelling of 'dimension' is with an s, if you weren't aware.)

I haven't yet dared try Elvish Reality Reborn, though.

Oh, thanks. When you are sure that the spelling is right you never bother to check the word out. The worst mistake I made was this: I named the Canno Fodder brigade - the Cannon Folder brigade in all instances of my mod.

ERR - will kick your face, the only time I beat DoD with it, is when I altered exp gaining, so it is unballanced right now :)

Btw a minor translation status update [/b,] unit descriptions is now at - 60%
Example

Grand Inquisitor
#When the time is right, the God-Eagle selects one mortal who bears a righteous, unquenchable flame within his devoted heart to step forth as the Father of a particular monastery. A selected abbot will personally accompany this mortal to the Chapter of the Order, where the Grand Inquisition Tribunal gladly receives him, knowing that he will soon serve as the bosom of the clergy. Once the mortal awakens his true power from his faith, the Lord of Light instructs his servants to forge weapons made from purified ingots in order for the Grand Inquisitor to eradicate heresy.
The extensive training a Grand Inquisitor must endure is relentless and daunting, yet inspiring to the morale of those who follow him. If the founding fathers of the Inquisition are known as the Shield of the Church, the Grand Inquisitor is, without a doubt, the sword.#
Man, thats difficult stuff to translate properly.
I like the sprites you made, the Conclave magistrate is especially cool. The helmet of the Wolfrider looks a bit weird, though, with the black outlines.

I agree, I also noticed the wolf helmet looking a bit strange. And I also liked the staff for the magistrates, the sun and moon.

I didn't realise there was a group of people working on this. I'll have to try that mod for DoD too.

It is difficult but on the other hand Ric is a writer so his level of translation is very good and sometimes his version is better than Russian LOL

You are right about the helmet, there was another version that should've made itself into the mod(with a ponytail :)) but for some reason the creator of the mod chose this one. Man I really am looking forward for the feedback from English speaking audience. More feadback = better mod
